For Pete sake, can we just call in Artillery and get a message “Acknowledged” or “Confirmed” instead of these damn "every Tom, Dick and Harry on your team is trying to call in Artillery so you have wait? Meanwhile your radioman dies in the two minutes your trying to call it in before you ever get the chance for it to be acknowledged. You can’t tell me that in WW2 the person taking the Artillery requests would keep telling soldiers to wait (if your radioman survives that long that is). I would think he would write it down, then relay it to the Artillery when they are done firing. A whole control point can get taken in the time it takes sometimes to call it in. Yeah, I know, I can call it in and end up killed because I won’t have a general idea of when it is coming if it were done this way, but most likely as long as it takes sometimes to call in, my squad would be killed anyway.

It will be better if there is no opportunity to call a busy artillery
It happens since they implemented the supply crate call. Before that, if another is already in queue, the notification will pop up when press a call button so you wouldn’t have to waste time get into the map and mark the area for nothing. I thought it gonna be fixed when they added a pie menu but no.
Should add an artillery icon near the radio, if it is on, that means you can call in, without checking the map or getting “in use” message.

I have given up on artillery, its exactly like Australian banking call centres.
Ring up and the line’s always busy.
At least call centres tell me I’m on hold and play poorly recorded music.
Artillery in Enlisted Im just left hanging. I go through the process of clicking the map but then they tell me artillery is ‘busy’.
I am not joking this happens literally every game.
“Hmm, artillery could be good here.”

In the extremely rare case my call actually gets through, by the time artillery arrives we’ve already taken the damn point, or been overrun.
So it’s either:
“Artillery can’t get to the phone right now, please leave your name and message after the beep, we will return your call”
OR
“Cease fire! Cease fire! You’re shellin’ Marines!”
Yeah, I would rather you call it in once and hear confirmed. If I have to wait a couple minutes for it to actually be launched, so be it. If I get killed by my own artillery fire because I rush the cap zone when ten minutes later my called artillery is hitting, so be it. But it is ridiculous to sit there for two minutes trying to call that shit in, meanwhile knowing that your radioman is going to be killed before they finally acknowledge it.
My guess is, that like DF bots, their system is not sophisticated enough to do anything other then just the simple basics. So, probably no way they can or will change the system. With the bots, I think DF is simply clueless how to program them, but I have hope they would have enough ability to just be able to store the artillery requests and fire them in order. But sometimes I expect to much.
One thing that annoys me the most is that Enlisted seems to like to give me the 10 artillery kills damn near every day as one of my daily goals, and when you can’t call it in, it’s a worthless goal. Yeah, I could change it, but usually change the ones like kill 25 people with a bolt action, since I hate bolt action that ain’t happening.
Agreed, though I do believe we should stop friendly fire incidents.
To my knowledge your artillery fire will not kill teammates, therefore I fail to see why it should kill you. We never know when artillery is coming so its silly having to sit back waiting for it just to avoid being ‘killed by yourself.’
Now if I’m defending and I call artillery on myself (and I stay there) then yeah you’re gonna get hit. The issue is especially with offensive games.
There’s heaps of enemies so you call in artillery. It doesnt arrive. The team fights hard and pushes the enemy back and has control of the point, but now the artillery arrives and ‘you’re shellin Marines’.
So… you could either not use artillery at all (but you didnt know the point would be captured) or maybe DF could add the ability to cancel an artillery strike or something. Especially when theres been a long wait, maybe a confirmation?
I don’t know what the process is in real life but to me it makes sense, call in artillery. It’s busy, then before they fire they confirm your position and that the strike is still needed and inform you of the ETA. (Ive seen modern war films do that with missiles how far away they are).
Artillery in Enlisted is ‘make believe’ there’s no actual guns so its not like we can calculate distance and time ourselves.
Damn artillery bug gets me killed even more often than before.
Since there is an extra screen to go through (select ammobox/arty/smoke).
More time wasted, gets me killed, cant call arty which kills a lot.
Extremely annoying to try calling in arty several times during a battle, it wont come, I lose time, I get killed while calling it in again and again…
Just fix it already, this is ridiculous.
(it used to be perfect, an arty icon appeared only when you could call it. now it’s all messed up for minutes long due to bomber raids and other player’s arty)
Yeah, that just slows the process down even more and I hate it. Simplify it, just click to call it in, have them say confirmed and your on your way. Even now, I just logged in and got my Enlisted daily objectives, and sure as shit, I got the kill 10 enemies with artillery. You know, one day it actually took 11 games to kill 10 people with artillery as 80% of the time I could not get it called in or my radioman died before I could call it in.
