Andrew Burgess and the Burgess Gun Company only made slide action rifles for a few years in the late 1890s. This rifle is a take down with an octagon barrel and the slide action works by moving the grip. Interestingly, Thomas Bennett modified a Winchester 1873 with a similar slide mechanism in the 1880s. Shortly after the introduction of this rifle, Winchester bought out Burgess and now several of the guns from that buyout reside in our collection.
thank you for tolerating my eccentric nature when it comes to posting on this forum. i know my posts cany vary from good ideas to well obscure and random. i love American guns and low BR weapons like B1. I wish we had more pump/slide and lever action guns which we have gotten a handful in just the last year. Things like shotguns are also rare, yes only the us really used shotguns in war bet when has that stopped enlisted. Finding obscure original stylish gun Makers like Burgess is fun for me and i thank you for allowing me to practice my hobby. If there is anything you want to see me message me or post below and i will see what my limited skills can muster.
