Bunny hopping (B Hopping) is the act of using jumping and sprinting to make oneself move quicker. Currently this is somewhat possible with a base level soldier. However, with perks on your soldiers, you can make them literally fly around without losing stamina. This can be achieved via a combination of perks and by sprinting while running diagonally (either W and A or W and D combo). Image below to show one of the possible perk combos:
In the image above, you can see three key perks that I have found important for B Hopping. These are the 100% faster stamina regen, the 100% more stamina, and the 40% higher maximum jump height. The jump height perk lets you get enough air to regen stamina in mid air while the stamina regen and 100% more stamina allows you to gain enough to B Hop permanently. Higher run speed perks allow for even faster speed. This allows you to move much faster than any other method of movement besides vehicles. Refer to video below:
As shown, this method of movement works really well on level and downhill fields. My next question is: Is this intentional? Since it does require you to have 3 specific perks it means that it is difficult to get and it takes up lots of slots while you could be using ammo buffs or other options. However, this feels rather overpowered due to infinite sprint time and it was probably not the devs intent.
Simple solution: remove stamina regen during jumping
IMO jumping should low your weapon (not being able to fire) and drain stamina a lot more. B hopping shouldn’t be a valid tactic. (I use B-hopping because in the games current stage it’s so effective)
All while maintaining your movement speed.
You can also combine it with Q/E for even more wack gunplay.
This used to be even more important during earlier stages of the game, where there was less inertia and higher sprint speeds. As the changes to both of those have been with the intent of reducing mobility, I can only imagine that the devs do not want this.
That said, I personally do not mind at all because movement tech is a skill-based mechanic. And I am all for skill-based gameplay.
I think it’s mostly because of current perks is so unbalanced. +100% perks is mostly OP. Perks should be like +15~50% to make them more realistic. Also the stamina mechanism . They should make running in low stamina more “natural” not current constant switch between walk and run. And you have to tap shift again to run again.
I dont mind keeping it in in some form. My only issue with it is that its currently so unbalanced with it having no downsides to its use (can still shoot accurately in midair) and having infinite use since stamina wont deplete.
The stamina comes at the cost of not being able to use the vitality perk if you don’t have a premium solder (of course, it is not an issue with premium soldiers because of their P2W double perk capacity over normal 5* soldiers) so there is a downside for normal soldiers.
But then again that’s only a downside because of how stupidly broken the vitality perk is.
Also true, but if your character is not able to run the vitality perk (as most characters on Normandy currently are) then theres not much of a reason to run anything other than this. And after the reset all non premiums are going to be back to square one.
Well, depends on playstyle I suppose. I have never run out of a full stamina bar with just double stamina, and I don’t want to leave my AI soldiers around with the B-hopping into battle itself.
whatch those soldier-rabbits jumping around makes me feel unease.
i’m not going to lie…
and the video clearly shows how much dumb it is.
it should perhaps be slowed down, and more stamina should be drained.
because no soldiers in real life ever though about jumping left and right in close combat to avoid bullets and fire back. you can’t even do that physicially.
For me it really depends on what kind of shooter.
For Enlisted’s realism’s sake, I have to agree.
But for an arcade shooter, it is movement “tech” that will have to be mastered by the players that want to compete. As such, it enhances the skill side of the game.
The only legitimate uses for jumping in Enlisted are jumping over trenches and into attics; and attics actually don’t make sense when I think about it because you go from having your hands full to your hands free to grab a ledge.
I’m not counting climbing over walls as jumping ofc.
Quite true… As a general rule I avoid those games. I like positioning and cover as the expression of excercised skill. Everytime I watch an opponent hop to it I swear I can hear a boing…
