Tank coax should not penetrate clean through the log cabin buildings like they do. Yes it is realistic, but it isn’t fun at all to take cover and get shot clean through on the other side of the building like it wasn’t there. At most cap it at penning like one wall so you can still blast goobers you see in a room, but not guys a block away you couldn’t even see.
Yeah I’m firing from C on Beloe Lake and hitting the guys through all the buildings on the way as they leave A. That’s not fair or fun whatsoever.
And upon testing on the Invasion map, you can only fire coax through the log cabin style buildings. Normal houses and the final concrete building isn’t effected.
Some buildings are more vulnurable than others. In addition to that, most wooden buildings have a stone chimney that does protect you.
No, you should not be able to point to point kill guys through the entirety of the town’s buildings. Yes you should be able to shoot through their outer walls into them. No you should not be able to fire through ALL of the buildings to hit them as they come in from their spawn.
Talking about in the other thread about realism and picking and choosing what bits you want, this is a bit that I’d rather leave out because getting wiped out by an enemy you have no chance of even being aware of is not fun in any way shape or form since he doesn’t have to know you’re there either to fire his MG through all the buildings.
Do the bullets penetrate more than one wall?
As far as I noticed they only go through one wall. Brick chimneys protect you, or a second wall. If there are cases where bullets go through more than one wall, I agree that is an issue that needs to be fixed.
Yeah they go through the entire building and out the other side, that’s what I’m trying to say. They can do that through multiple buildings if they’re all cabins. Go test it out if you can get Beloe Lake since you can fire through the A building and kill people coming from C with impunity with either Soviet or German coax. I did it last night in the BT-7 to test after doing it with the PzIIC earlier in the day.
i can say that sometimes, bullets go through dead tank body so…
and he is right, even entire buildings.
Destructable environment would be cool, also APHE exploding in a house after going through a wall would be also cool
Then yes. This needs fixing. One wall is fine but that seems like a bug.
i don’t think the defenders would like to defend an open field.
nor attackers would like to attack on open field.
it would just be a meatgrinder for both sides
I’d like that too, but Dagor likes to thrash CPUs when it comes to destruction physics. They’ve mitigated a lot of it in War Thunder, but it still eats frames.
And having everything flattened would honestly be a pain to fight over unless they did rubble piles and wrecks of houses like that Chinese tower in Battlefield 4.
Thats what I meant
No, it’s not realistic for 7.62 to punch through a chunk of wood that dense and thick and still have the any power left behind it.
It seems more like a bug to me though. Usually thick walls stop bullets like they should, but other times it’s like they’re not even there.
I agree. One wall is ok, more is OP.
And also I want to play city map, not “this pile of rubble was once a city” map.
Would really appreciate it if you guys would fix this. It’s making the maps with cabins unplayable as more people realize you can do it.
When I was in the infantry - 40 years ago - a 7.62mm NATO ball round would go clean through a 600mm tree trunk without any bother, splintering the wood at he exit hole - we had it done for us as an exercise why cover is not bulletproof!!.
I don’t suppose the 1941 rifle bullets would have been much worse.
for example see How far will different types of ammo penetrate into plywood? - YouTube - 7.62 x 54 FMJ and AP both go through 7 layers of 3/4" 5-ply plywood - which is of course much stronger than natural timber.
Bullets penetrating one or two log walls isn’t in question. It’s the fact that you can wallbang people through every wall of every building in the village if they’re the cabin type if you can line them up cross map.
I don’t think you’ve seen what we’re referring to: you’re behind the corner of a log house, and a round hits one wall, passes through it inside the building, hits the second wall, passes through it, and hits you at full force.
Or same situation but instead of hitting you after the second wall it passes through several more buildings and hits you with full force.
If you know the paths people will take you can just rake them through the entire village on Beloe Lake for example and kill them all without them ever having a chance in hell of seeing you.
