Projectile size doesn’t matter that much, mainly the bullet weight, powder charge, and velocity is the important part.
8×22mm Nambu which fires a 100 grain bullet at 1,000 fps only delivers 200 ft/lbs of energy while the smaller 7.62×25 Tokarev fires a lighter 85 gr FMJ at 1,540 ft/s with 446 ft/lbs of energy.
Mainly the smaller bullet (also known as smaller grain projectile), and less power behind it (how much powder it has which is one factor that directly relates to velocity in tandem with grain and barrel length)
In reality 45 ACP and 9mm have the same stopping power, because 9mm has a bit more velocity which basically makes it have about the same impact energy of 45 ACP. So trading less ammo capacity and more weight for almost the same performance makes no sense.
45 ACP is outdated and obsolete, the US has changed to 9mm for a reason.
Now - there is however a special scenario where 45 ACP performs much better than 9mm, and that is in regard to hollowpoint projectiles, more mass benefits greatly from this so 45 ACP can still today make sense for usage in the Police force.
After all its a game where every gun should have their buffs and debuffs, but the guns i reported have more minus then plus, thats sad.
I was so happy about that 1888 buff and hope they test and play every single gun and rework them.
It dont have to be historical its a game, it only should fullfill their Role.
A MG have the Role to kill Masses in Seconds iMo MGs are Watering Cans where you can be happy if you kill 3 Enemys with 1 Mag.
I have shooted a Enemy 5 times with slow DeLisle thats crazy.
Welrod i needet in one Situation 6-7 Bullets, ok he was behind wood but please…
Indeed the game already balances itself with fantasy stats, which are especially apparent with rates of fire.
There is no need to 100% adapt bullet performance based on real life. But a certain degree of believability should be expected. I mean in the end damage to a body isnt just simple physics. There are alot of attributes that need to be considered to actually say “how much damage” a bullet does.
Its great to say “bullet A has such and such power behind it” but that can also mean that the bullet travels through a target and exits it without transferring its energy fully into the target.
So to speak “damage” in real life is already a topic up for debate and not easily defined, the game doesn’t need to go down this line.
Simply saying 9mm does less damage than 8mm kurz is enough for realism sake - and then balancing the rounds around the weapons and overall performance that would be expected from both weapon types.
I understand this Balance, Silnced Gun are silenced but weak.
But on the other Hand its a Special Operation Gun 007 and should kill instant.
Which other Guns needs Buffs too? I have the feeling i missed alot…
I think about Revolvers we all agree… should have more Damage. Pistoles higher Rof and lower DMG, every other Shooter handles this way
Meanwhile Welrod feels like the Kolibri from BF1, Problem is Bots make 360 and laugh about you
They can buff the damage of the Italian submachine guns like the FNAB-43 since the Italians used more powerful 9mm loads in their submachine guns, they could make it do the same damage as the Type 100 SMG which is 7.2 with 500 RPM when fully upgraded, Im willing to bet the 400 RPM was measured using standard 9mm instead of the Italian army’s ghetto overpressure ammo.
That way only for the Beretta M1918, even the OVP uses 9x19mm Parabellum, but open bolt Smgs can handle extreme pressures so I wouldn’t be surprised if the OVP was designed for Glisenti, however collecters use Parabellum in them with no damage.
Id say main reason for switching 9mm is simply the easier handling, developement of 9mm and the last but most obvious reason by far, the availability of 9mm compared to .45
Think theres HP round comparison in teh video as well, dont recall being much different.
You are aware the modern AR use 5.45mm, 5.56mm and 5.8mm? Which is smaller bullet than a .45ACP and yet pack at least 3~5 times the energy, penetration capability and ballistic performance?
The design of the bullet and case matter, hell modern bullets are even smaller than an arrow or a blackpowder gun ammo
Take .30 carbine(yes there is pistol chamber in this ammo) vs .45 Long Colt if you talk about pistol round, the Long Colt is bigger than the .30 carbine and yet worse overall performance
