Buff the fire rate of the Type 99 rifle (early)

The Type 99 rifle (early) is the last bolt action rifle the Japanese get, but except for the sight (and 0.4 reload time), everything about it is worse than the Type 38 rifle. So my suggestion is to buff its fire rate it doesn’t have to be 72 like the Type 38, but maybe 69 (nice) like the Ross rifle. This isn’t really necessary, but I really would like to use this gun, and the model of it is really nice, but switching is not really worth it in my opinion.

And make it deal the same damage as the late one while we’re at it. No clue why they made it weaker

Worse than the mosin.

And why does the Early variant do less damage than the Late variant?

I tried to like the type 38, but I cannot stand open sights. I can’t hit a barn with that gun.

Type 99 with its closed sights? I can pop heads off from a distance while they’re moving. It just works for me

The type 99 is salvation for us, whit type 38 im literally blind

I’m going to stop you right there.

Does this look like 69 rounds per minute Darkflow? Also, notice how the shooter doesn’t have to bring the gun down to cycle another round, keeping the gun on target.

Look how the shooter doesn’t have to bring the gun down to cycle another round—keeping it on target.

Notice how this reenactor doesn’t have to bring the gun down to pull the lever down; he just keeps it on target.

Why don’t they make these weapons actually unique from other bolt actions and other guns in general? Is this them being lazy, never having thought of this concept, or intentionally doing this for balancing purposes?

they would probably need to redesign core game mechanics for it to play like this, so i guess they thought it wasnt worth it for couple of guns. just buff their rof and be done with it…

Why would you need to redesign core mechanics for an entire game when all that needs to be fixed in terms of animations are three guns? These guns are not Bolt Action rifles, yet they are manual rifles, so why would they not be unique in terms of performance? Do they need to change the core mechanics of the game to fix the gun sights from hell?

I don’t understand

NGL, you had me at 69 part.

not entire game, just certain core mechanics. like making whole new gun class with its weapon behavior, actions and animations. it is probably not even that much work, but considering the backlog of work that they currently have, it is probably not worth adding couple of days work for 3 rifles.

btw programmers are usually lazy and efficient. if it works it is good until it starts making problems.

Not make a new category, just a different animation. Shouldn’t there be more focus on the core mechanics of the game anyway, since it is the foundation?

This right here is the problem. There is no foresight, and they simply walk around blind, running into things. I get the importance of efficiency, but mediocrity is not what needs to be at the center of a game if they want to add it to steam.

I don’t really understand what all this has to do with the Type 99, but if you have an issue with how those rifles are depicted in the game, I suggest you make a new topic about it.

you may think it is just animations, but it could be way more complicated in the background (or it could be super easy). e.g. removing zoom to reload may be core mechanism for any gun reload (or maybe it is class specific). they you would need to add exceptions for manual rifles and that could easily break other parts of code that expect that part of code to work in specific way.

btw it should have been easy to fix the bipods, but somehow they are still not fixed, so i am not expecting much from them.

You brought up the Ross rifle and its rpm, which is a straight-pull rifle. Even though the Ross rifle is a straight pull and is arguably smoother than the M95 with the video evidence, its rpm is significantly lower for no reason whatsoever.

I also brought up how Darkflow has a cycling animation for the Ross, M95, and Winchester M95 (it is one of the unique rifles that are not bolt action, but still manual) that brings down the rifle to the waist, even though no soldier is taught that. It makes the Straight pulls and the lever action just another bolt action that has no uniqueness whatsoever. They are just a waste of space and extra stepping stones to keep players from getting to other guns like the AVT, Garand, M2 Carbine, FG 42 II, and so on.

Surely each rifle is a different code and not just a bunch of different skins covering the same code that keeps being reused.

You’re right, what am I doing here

You expect too much from DF because with how they’re doing things they don’t care about the foundations of this game and making sure anything is actually stable

Have anyone tried type 99 with grenade launcher? It feels like it has slower rate of fire and reload speed compare to the regular type 99 early.

I wouldn’t be surprised, in Darkflow’s mind, it is called balance.

I guess that’s what darkflow does. Just lazy. I think I understand what they did. They gave type 99 early the animation and reload speed from type 99 long rifle while giving type 99 grenade launcher the animation and rate of fire from type 99 late. They just slapped those guns from the editor and called it a day. I hate it. But it’s expected.
