Player controlled engineers should be able to automatically ping enemy mines within a small radius of them. This would help incentivize playing engineer with the introduction of APCs and also maintain some historical accuracy as combat engineers often cleared the battlefield of any hazards.
Maybe what you need is a rifle with a magnet tied to a string
Hey Luke
It would be cool to have a perk so the engineer can detect mines and mark them, but the games exploiters who enjoy mining spawns would be outraged, as they would lose their valued entire squad spawn kills.
Personally I would change it so when spawning on a mined spawn point only one member of the squad dies not the whole squad.
Maybe something like soldiers of the engineer class will auto highlight enemy mines within a small radius, small enough to only be useful if you are walking/crouch walking slowly?
Anything that makes spotting mines hiding under the damn floor easier would be welcome
AT mines are too weak to nerf them further. A blind man can see them, and only experienced players know where enemy tanks go (all maps have a more or less pre-defined tank lane).
Oh, and let alone that most tanks won’t even move into the playable area where you can place the mines.
AP mines are a different thing. They are nothing short of a passive income stream for exp. It’s absurd just how reliable these are for farming kills. And infantry combat is dynamic enough to just place them anywhere and eventually, someone WILL step on one.
Giving the Engineer passive AP mine marking would incentivize players to bring 1 engineer in each squad, which is a very popular rule that many players already impose on the broader community. I can see that being a viable buff to the class.
