Hello, I make this post to suggest that they improve the Nagant 1895 revolver from the Moscow campaign. It has very little damage for the rate of fire it has and the time it takes to recharge it. For example, in a close-range confrontation where you have to reload the main weapon, it is better to take out the knife and try to stab the opponent before shooting him with this revolver (due to its low damage and high cadence, the opponent is sure to reload his weapon or approach you and he stabs you before you can do anything to him with this Nagant 1895) I think increasing his damage to kill 2-3 shots to the chest at close range would make him a useful weapon in situations like the one mentioned above.
PD: My English is not very good, so I had to use the google translator a bit. Sorry if something is not very well written
There’s sorta a problem with balancing something like the nagant, and it’s equal parts a balance and historical issue.
Historically, the nagant is part of a big family of late 1800s service revolvers developed around the world, but primarily in europe. These revolvers we’re usually double action/single action, gate-loading, and compared to their American counterparts very underpowered.
They fired small .30 caliber bullets at relatively low speeds, and the whole point of the nagant was to give the cartridge a little boost with the double-action trigger pull sealing the chamber.
The double-action trigger pull on the 1895 was so rough and heavy that most people, like the soldiers in-game, cocked them single-action, and I’m fact I’m fairly sure the Soviets gave up on the double action mechanism entirely.
IRL you don’t need a very powerful cartridge to kill someone, but until enlisted models internal organs and realistic bleedout systems, we’re stuck with HP.
So making the nagant more powerful WOULD be a good choice for balance, since it fires so slowly at the moment, but it could be ahistorical compared to how other cartridges performance are abstracted. Honestly I think that the TK-25 should be replaced with a different handgun, since it’s so weak.
yes i agree the nagant revolver does need a damage increase or at least make it double action to make it a viable option currently you may as well use the knife over it.
If the damage was increased perhaps it should be around a 1 - 2 shot ? (one to down an enemy however only at close range then the second shot to kill)
however I’m unsure if certain people would consider it too overpowered however in a game like enlisted where every weapon is relatively easy to use and kill with i doubt it would really matter. Also the long reload would also help balance it out abit if it was a 1 - 2 shot
The only thing that makes the other pistols good is the fact that you can spam them at close range but you can’t do this with the nagant due to the single action mechanism. Compared to the other German starter pistols the its kinda useless.
Please make the nagant good it makes me cry that its rather bad in enlisted its such an interesting unique weapon.
Also out of all the weapons in the game currently other than the shotgun in think i would consider it the weakest infantry firearm in the game currently.
I rather have a bag any revolver than a double barrel shotgun in this game. I literally can kill/down multiple enemies without reloading with the nagant, while shotguns make fail to down a single target at close Range with both shots.
With that said the nagant should be double action, as the red army mostly assigned double action nagants, the single action variants where given to the old white army as the Zar didn’t trust common soldiers with the firepower of a double action revolver.
The Nagant revolver doesn’t need a huge buff. It’s already a manly man testosterone filled weapon. It’s trickier to usesure but the reloading thrill can make you feel like this guy:
In all seriousness, even if the Nagant revolver received a damage buff for it’s cartridge it would be minimal… So that it wouldn’t really change a thing combat wise…
And as “balance” issues go, don’t start comparing pistols and hoping each factions performs just as well. It’s as pointless as asking germans smgs to fire as fast as russian ones (asymmetrical balance)
So grab your hat, your winchester and your trusty Nagant and get back into the fray!
However, it is much more effective to use knife or axe instead, and run towards the enemy in vodka fashioned banzai.
The amount of kills that I got with nah-gant can be counted on one hand in comparison to any other pistol of any nation (for soviets at least I have my only, reliable, precious, and shiny astra lux from twitch drops because RNG is RNG. And I don´t consider TK as serious pistol…).
To be honest, I rarely use pistols myself.
Exept the Nagant… But not the way you might think. I use it almost ONLY to finish off downed enemies with class, or pop someone’s head from the back
They are actually useful if you get used to them, especialy US Colts. In fact, pistols can be useful even when used offensively (so not necessarily just a last resort defense weapon)
Noooo… I like it… There’s some real thrill about slowly reloading the thing when you believe an enemy might turn the corner any second. I like that.
The revolver by itself is pretty well represented, in an historical way: it is indeed that “slow” to fire, as a single action revolver. They COULD boost the cartridge power slightly however, as I believe they rendered the commercial version of the 7.62x38r wich was reputed as weak, instead of the military one (ball cartridge one) wich was about as strong as a .32 magnum one.
But then again, I doubt a slight power boost would change anything gameplay wise
Performance wise, getting hit power closer to the US Colt (Colt got astounding 6,3, which makes it an okayish defensive and offensive tool) would do the trick for single action pistol.
