Buff M1 Carabine

Reduce recoil, increase damage

Recoil yeah, damage I think is fine if the recoil gets fixed.
It’s a good sized rifle with a lighter cartridge than the STG has, it shouldn’t kick as hard as a garand.

Muzzle rise is a torque reaction - it is dependent on the power of the cartridge but also on the physical arrangement of the firearm - pistols often have significant muzzle rise without much recoil from weak cartridges.

See the wiki article: Muzzle rise - Wikipedia

You can get M1 carbine muzzle brake/recoil checks to help reduce the muzzle rise - they started making them either just before or just after the end of WW2 - can’t quite determine which.

Here’s a couple of better videos - the muzzle rise of the 2 M1’s is pretty comparable IMO

Except the M1 Carbine barely weighs any less than the Garand and is ~8 inches shorter in total length. But its bullets hit with roughly 1/3 the ft*lb of force and it has a lighter bolt. Meaning much less recoil would be created. Yet in game theyre practically the same.

Also. Not the best idea to compare how two different shooters react to recoil. Theres quite a number of people who make the AR15 look like its shooting .50 BMG instead of .223.

Heres an example of the same guy (Ian) shooting the M1 Garand and M1 Carbine and the recoil difference is drastic:

Are we talking about max weapon level?

9.5 lbs vs 5.8 lbs, both loaded with sling - I’d consider that pretty major difference - more than the difference between the FNFAL and M-16’s I used to carry in service!!

and the Garand has more weight towards the muzzle of that longer length, so that resists muzzle rise better.

It’s not recoil you are seeing in the game - it is muzzle rise.

as noted in the wiki article you can easily get more muzzle rise from a smaller cartridge - eg pistols often have more muzzle rise than rifles despite having weaker cartridges.

and so is the stance - with the Garand he’s in an awful stance - not standing or kneeling properly - your range instructor would be screaming in your ear if you tried shooting like that!!

with the Carbine he has a good stance standing and leaning into the weapon.

Not leaning properly
At some points his form isn’t the best. But even when he’s in good form the recoil is noticeably larger than that of the M1 Carbine

Yeah - not a good pose at all - you know he’s in an awkward crouch there, right?? He is on his feet, but with his arse almost touching the ground - he is not braced at all.

It looks like it is a deliberately uncomfortable and bad pose to make shooting harder - which is fair enough in a test - not arguing that - but it does not allow him to properly transfer recoil into the ground with a braced body, feet apart, etc. - so it is unsurprising he rocks back quite a long way.

And where he is in a better pose - sure there is more recoil… but there isn’t a lot of muzzle rise at all - much less than when he is a crappy pose - which is my point.

compare it with the garand shooter in the video I posted where he is in a proper standing shooting pose and how much muzzle rise he gets.

As a bit of a wild example, check out this for the relationship between weapon form and muzzle rise - you don’t get much more recoil in a shoulder fired weapon than this!!

But the muzzle rise is relatively mild for all that - because the weapon is long, with lots of weight a long way from the shoulder where it pivots so giving a large moment resisting the mizzle rise.

Meanwhile heres how a General shoots an AR 15

God tier meme content

Pose etc is pretty irrelevant if reduction recoil can entirely be considered to be realistic by 99% of people, and said recoil reduction improves the gameplay of the game. The M1 Carbine is simply not worth playing over the Garand right now.

Damage looks good, the .30 carbine is more powerfull than a pistol cartidge but less than a rifle cartridge,I agree on the recoil reduction,I think should be less, the fg42 or machineguns dont have any in comparasion…

that is quite debatable since the carbine is more meant for CQC than the garand from a gameplay standpoint, with more ammo plus the version that gets the grenade launcher is amazing for clearing areas with hipfiring especially when full starred

Wait you guys got the Carabine? All I got was a lame Carbine…

Why not use the Karabiner 98Karabiner?

carbine is total shit right now.
but I still see people using it.
probably they are new to game.

or they are like me and have an addition to it

New to the game, love the gun IRL and care more about using it in game than having good gear, or are taking it for the challenge. Those tend to be the main reasons right now.

But yea, it does suck at the moment, and does need a change.
My suggestion on the matter;
