I dont know if there was a hidden patch or something recently, maybe the new BP coming into effect.
But from today onwards, my enlisted BSoD’s my computer at random (I can be 1 minute after starting up or it can be 15mins after starting up) for no determinate reason. I was also having the issue with WT and discord, no other games or apps are causing it, I suspect its a launcher error for all 3 of them, complete reinstalls havent worked so I dont know what to do at this point.
The main reason Im suspecting the launcher error atm is this popped up there while trying to launch enlisted.
I’ve not had any issue here, but then I use Steam and not the Gaijin launcher.
It might be an idea to check your Event Viewer for any system issues. Generally speaking, a BSOD indicates an issue deeper than just an application error. Have a look and let me know what the BSOD error code says, as TeePee1 said, it could be a driver, or even a potential hardware issue.
I thought that when I had the discord and WT crashes, but no, its fully up to date, its just baffling, atm my working theory is the launcher was mem leaking,
causing my PC which doesnt have the best cooling since I live in Ireland, a famously cold and wet place, which just so happens to be going through continental weather we arent meant to have here (thanks global warming), so the hot ambient temperature combine with the PC parts overheating from overworking because of mem leaking is causing it.
Not at all, BSoD happen for the most random things, I mean I have a mate who has to quit matches on the netherlands map in WT because one of the textures on the map causes his PC to instantly BSoD. Like I dont know what sorta hardware or software issue you can have to even cause that effect. He never BSoDs at all otherwise.
I mean I built my own computer over a decade ago, its a real ship of thesis/Frankenstein’s monster type creation at this point, alas however when an issue is localised to certain games only, especially ones from the same publisher (ignoring discord for a second since that could easily just be a coincidence), its very often that tends to be a localised issue to those games instead.
As for now, adequate monitoring of temperature of core components combined with launching and closing the launcher when it makes the tell tale signs of a mem leak seem to have worked and I was able to play a full match about an hour ago.
Well, no. They may seem random a lot of the time, but they’re not. There’s always an underlying issue. Whether it’s an OS issue, driver issue, or as I mentioned, a hardware issue. BSODs always happen for a reason, there’s nothing random about them. It’s just a case of pinpointing the underlying cause.
For example, your friend’s issue with a particular texture loading in could indicate an issue with the VRAM on his GFX card.
I had issues with Enlisted for a while, this game and RDR2. For the most part, everything else worked fine, except for the occasional CTD sometimes with games like Cyberpunk. But with Enlisted and RDR2, my rig would hard-lock to black screen and require a cold boot to fix it. And it seemed random too, sometimes the games would work fine for a while, other times they would crash my rig within minutes.
It turned out my GFX card was faulty. Windows, of course, simply reported a Fatal Hardware Failure, without any other details. It was a bitch to diagnose, and only after replacing other potential points of failure, that I managed to isolate it to the card.
My point being, is that BSODs are never random. There’s always a reason for them, and it’s very rarely just a game’s fault. After all, if it was the game’s fault, then there would be a lot more people complaining of the same issue, which isn’t the case here.
Not saying it is per say, all I know is launcher got an update and is now unstable, I do not have the time to try diagnose such an issue for what is only effecting some small things, with a work around in place.
Not to mention I do think I managed to pin it on overheating, I mean idk if you have played arma, but its famous for just completely randomly mem leaking for literally no reason, and might only happen once every 10 ten years for some people, like sure, there is probably some combination going on to cause it to mem leak, but on the flip side it does also absolutely happen randomly as well.
I mean thats like saying “there is a reason for everything” after someone gets hit by a car, like yeah sure, there was probably a combination of events that caused it, the butterfly effect and all that, but it can still be classed as random chance.
Well I mean, when its only gaijin games plus a notorious buggy/broken piece of software which is having issues, (Discord is probably just a coincidence), I have my bets, also a step ahead of you, everything is fully up to date, from my OS to my audio drivers.
Its also not consistent, its only at random the launcher will do something funky and you can tell its mem leaking just from that. Its genuinely just a bizarre error.
