I’ve seen so many posts on FB about this topic, and I really liked these two features. Using bronze orders for leveling up soldiers plus only silver orders for getting new soldiers makes the game a little boring. I’ve recently started playing the Berlin campaign but already gave up because it’s really hard to get some good soldiers and make challenging squads for the campaign. Same goes to Tunisia campaign (my Moscow and Normandy squads are nicely leveled up because of bronze orders for soldiers and the academy). Even getting only one star soldiers with bronze orders would be fun (for me), if the academy is back as well.

at least allow players to get 1 star troopers to fill out their squads when starting

Academy sux compared to current system of leveling soldiers, regarding to random bronze order troops it could stay, but it won’t be back for sure if there are plans for removing this option for weapons as well. Good thing is, that there should also come with these changes silver orders for just XP gain in battles similar to what we have with bronze cards.

the problem with XP related siver gain is that it doesnt help when starting out a campaign, which is when you need troops the most
with 50 k xp per silver order you get your first silver troop order on late lvl 5(ingoring BP/dailies)
Academy was shite so no.
New players get a big blob of silver orders from achievements to help kickstart things, and veteran players should know well enough that if they don’t have any resources handy when starting a new campaign, it will cause them some trouble. The main time I see this sort of thing being a relevant issue is if a newer player splits their time and silver orders across several campaigns, which while significant, has always been the case.
For the OP, while loosing random troops from bronze orders can be kinda annoying, I much prefer the current troop leveling system to the academy. The academy made it feel impossible to care about soldiers until they were level 5, and added a needless timer to the game. Good riddance.
I want the bronze orders back for sure but im fine that the academy is gone, it took so long to lev up troops, but on the flip side now I feel it is impossible to fill my squads up when starting on a new campaign.
