The Bren Gun needs a small tweak in as much as it should also have a semi automatic function in addition to full auto as with the Vickers Berthier LMG. The Bren change lever markings can be seen on the left hand side of the 3D model, forwards to A for Auto, in the middle to S for Safe and to the rear position to R for Repetition (semi auto).
The MG34 should as well
Agree, if these weapons had the ability to fire in single fire, they should be able to do so.
regarding the MG 34, it didnt have a “fire select” tho, but a two stage trigger (kinda like the modern AUG rifles) - which never the less should allow it do singlefire effectively.
Regarding the Bren, I’m a bit sad about it’s accuracy… Weapon was known for having a very good one, which reflected well the Brits combat doctrine in contrast to the germans
- Germans was suppress with a non stop spray of lmg fire and take out target with rifles
- Brits was flank while suppressing with combined small arms fire and take out targets with… accurate Bren. (Or also accurate rifles if situation permitted)
Ref Bren accuracy, I think more has been made of it over the years than it really should have. Yes the Bren is an accurate weapon but not dramatically more so than others weapons out there particularly when in a real combat situation as oppossed to nice and safe on a range during training. I’ve never fired a Bren sadly but I have worked on them in the shape of the 7.62mm L4A4 Light Machine Gun and I own a deactivated Bren Mk1. I have however fired L7A2 7.62mm GPMG (FN MAG) out to around 300 metres in the past. Even that weapon firing bursts of about five rounds or so is very accurate at that range, keeping the fall of shot in a tight pattern at the target. Also it has to be remembered that we’re talkign about a game here and like it or not it has it’s own mechanics and play balancing that need to come into effect.
Here’s a bit of Ian (Gun Jesus) McCollum and Mike “Bloke on the Range” talking about the “myth” surrounding the Bren’s accuracy. I’ve set it start at the Bren, prior to that they were talking about the M1 Garand ping and how “it will get you killed”, or not if you think sensibly about it.
I believe the ZK383 should also have slow and fast auto mode, similar to the BAR1918A2.
Just had a look for info, appears to have been semi and full auto.
In real life you could choose between 450 or 750 rpm.
I just skipped forward on the video turns out there was a removeable weight in the bolt assembly that altered the rate of fire, not something you’d be changing in combat.
Yah my bad, just remember you could but didn’t know how.
Well,it wasn’t really a two stage trigger as well. The MG 34 had two part trigger with the upper part for semi auto and lower one for full auto:
but I am pretty sure that the positioning of your finger would just simply determine how far you would be able to “pull the trigger” - meaning to be than by that logic still a two stage trigger right? … Or am I missing something?
I think that the small, trigger safety style lever in the full auto trigger part (the lower one) does something inside of the mechanism, but the trigger pull is the same, at least that’s how I remember it from the videos (I think Gun Jesus talked about it in his video about the MG 34).
