It would be nonsense for those who want to enjoy the atmosphere of WW2 to have all soldiers carrying automatic rifles.
Some may want to play a game with a majority of bolt-action or semi-automatic rifles and a few heavy weapons.
In the current system, even if you want to use a BR 3 or 4 weapon, you are often hesitant to do so because of the orders of magnitude better performance of a BR 5 weapon.
Therefore, it would be better to have three matches of 12,34,5 instead of the current two matches of 123 and 345.
I think that would help to divide the player base who all want to enjoy shooting each other with high powered weapons and those who want to enjoy the historical atmosphere.
Calm down. It isn’t that much of a difference. Besides, there are BR II Semi Auto’s. So you can run your Bolties and Semi Auto’s without fighting “the big bad BR V”
let me guess you run BR5 equipment
Quite sure the reason for 2 ques was “not enough players”
Hence, I wouldnt hold my breath while waiting reasonable BR locks.
I sort of agree with OP in a little way
I play BR V believing, i will be playing with people, whom, at least, by BR V know how to play game, and the objectives etc, not to find half team is not even BR V, and there not evening trying for objectives.
Youre right, the jump from br4 to br5 is extreme. there are br1 tanks who can deal with br4 tanks but nothing can properly deal with kingtigers. FGs are beyond anything on br4 and assault rifles obv. outperform any smg (they even make PPSHs in the same br5 look underpowered).
Playing br5 is so boring after a while that i build a mixed br3/4 german army and it was much more fun, simply due to having actual choices for every single weapon class and strong incentives to actually mix different weapons.
→ BR5 suffers from extreme power creep, has no balance and needs to be isolated from other BRs to create a fun environment and distinct reasons to play the game (br 1/2, br 3/4 and br5 is strictly better than the current situation and needs to be implemented in order to retain players and make the player base actually grow).
Not much of difference? So fg 42 is same as armaguerra 39? Or stg 44 is same as mp 28? Avt 40 is same as mosin? Fedorov avtomat is same as ppd 34? Panzer 3 is same as tiger 2? t50 is same as is-2?
Alright let me put this in words you can understand
Tanks, and to a lesser extent planes, are the only things that “need” some sort of balance. To kill a tank with another tank, you need the right ammo, loaded into the right cannon, and to hit the right spot. If you can’t fulfill these requirements, you cannot kill that tank with your tank. This is why War Thunder absolutely NEEDS a BR system no matter what so you don’t have Abrams slaughtering Pz II’s
People, on the other hand, are notoriously weak to bullets. 9mm out of a pistol and .50 BMG out of a M2 will kill a man regardless of where or how you hit him. Obviously there are differences such as effective range and TTK and whatnot, but you will not “fail” to kill someone with any round out of any gun
Enlisted is an Infantry game with Combined Arms aspects. Tank and plane balance isn’t as vital to the gameplay. As it stands right now, sometimes you can dominate a battlefield, and sometimes you can’t do anything with your tank. If there’s some big bad King Tiger you can’t possibly dream of killing, then go to a spot where the Tiger II can’t shoot you and support your team by hammering objective with HE. Let the AT players or the planes deal with it. Alternatively, you can forgo your tank and focus on Infantry gameplay. You know, that thing that actually wins the game. Let someone else with a better tank have your slot for the match. It won’t kill you, trust me
As the BR system stands now, you have “low” BR, I and II, “high” BR, IV and V, and then BR III which is pulling the slot machine lever and seeing what you get. Guess which one I mainly play and for what reason
Don’t take BR III away from me. It’s the only thing that gives me variety of enemies and teammates. I don’t want to fight the same exact thing over and over again for the rest of eternity
I would absolutely love to exile all the fantasy/bullshit/proto stuff from BR5 to a separate queue or BR6, where fantasy & time travelling weapon enjoyers can fight against each other with their
Fedorov (crappy WW1 gun, not used after limited Winter War action), AS (never adopted by military), RPD (post WW2), Belt DP (post WW2), AT (never adopted by military), MG-45 (never adopted by military), STG-45 (never adopted by military), Horn (never adopted by military), Fedorov MG (wtf even is that).
If they enjoy that stuff, I don’t judge we all have dark preferences, but let them do it in their own dimly lit room.
I agree with you. I also wondered why Enlisted didn’t do this. It’s so much more simpler, and if they ever decided to add BR 6 for whatever reason, they could have them fight with BR 5
I think the system is fine as is. It’s great for variety
I’m not entirely opposed to a separate mode, but for the most part I love this game’s sandbox as is
All I want is just a few things moved around here and there for BR so it helps to maintain historical immersion a smidgen. For example, the Federov being an interwar gun only really makes sense in early war period. At best I’d compromise and make it BR 3 so it can go either way.
I don’t know if they’d ever invest in a separate more historical mode because it seems like with this game it’s all or nothing development.
Even if you enjoy the br 3 slot machine it doesnt mean that its good. The guns are mostly same between br 1-2 and 3 but the br 3 tanks like panzer 4 j and kv 1 l11 are really broken in t 1-2 battles. You can kill them but it will take extra effort especially if they are greyzoning. T3 is way too good to fight t 1-2. Also most t3 players who get uptiered usually leave because they dont want to fight against superior enemy. This creates an balance problem in t4-5 because that team who gets more t3 players instead of t4-5 players is more likely to lose.
If they would add 3 queues: 12, 34, and 5 the problem would be solved. Those who like gambling could get an join any queue button
Finally someone else who gets it
Yeah. It should take extra effort to kill better tanks. That’s what challenges you and makes you better at the game. If you want mindless corner camping, then you should just go find a game where you kill nothing but bots constantly like how Berlin and Tunisia used to be
And maybe all the BR III crybabies wouldn’t constantly leave matches if this idea that BR V is entirely unbeatable wasn’t constantly shoved down their throats. If they properly learned how to play the game in Low Tier, and then weren’t told “aaahhh BR V horrible and you’ll never win because unfair,” then there would be plenty more people like me running BR III gear and owning BR V lobbies
As is though, they’ve all been indoctrinated that the second they see 88 in the killfeed to immediately ditch that match because they have no chance in Hell of ever winning. All because of what? You have an MG with a smaller mag? Your SMG’s fire rate isn’t as high? You never learned to double tap your Semi Auto to guarantee kills? It’s a load of bull. Put bullet in enemy, enemy dies, push objective, capture objective. Bang there’s your game plan for every match. Easy
Seriously though, BR III is for those of us who like fun. If you want “muh balance” or whatever the frick, stick to BR I and II. Let someone who’s gonna actually play the game have that III slot so maybe I can actually win a match of D-Day for once since Merge
There is an big difference in br 3 and 5 equipment. Also many new players in the br 1-2 lobbies dont know how to deal with panzer 4s and kv 1s. It is the same problem that we had in moscow campaign with the t34. Experienced players need to take care of the tank which will take time and during that time they are not attacking the zone or building rallies. And even if the enemy tank is killed nothing stops him from spawning right back. Many people dont care to kill greyzone tanks because the reward is way too small compared to the effort. I have had many games where we lost because no one reacted to greyzoning tanks
I love hunting tanks. It’s my second favorite thing to do other than out score/out kill friendly tank
I love tank vs tank battles. That is why i make tank battle mods
I find that killing a tank with another tank is the least effective and least reliable method of depriving the enemy of nice things. Much prefer my M9
But it is epic. One of my favourite moments in custom games was when i killed 7 axis panzers with is-1 before getting blown up by tiger 2 h
