Hey.
I think it would be really cool if Britain and Italy got their own tech trees (again?) since becoming “hidden” after the merge. Each faction needs some paratroopers right? Well the British became infatuated with the curious magazine mechanism of the Veselý 42 and Veselý 43 (V-42, V-43). These weapons were created in Britain by Czech Refugee Josef Veselý, for the BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) Company, sponsored and funded by a company called “British Graphitised Metals”. This company was connected with MI5 and there is a story including Double-Cross Agents to feed Germany false information. This weapon has a cool history and incredibly ingenious mechanisms used in the gun.
The Veselý 42 was still too large, even with its removable butt-stock, for Paratrooper use, but the V-43 was able to be taken apart in 3 pieces (Buttstock-Receiver-Barrel) for quick assembly when removed from Paratrooper haversack. The Paratroopers would quickly assemble their gun, and with so much space saved, able to bring between 2 to 4 of the 60 round magazines.
The weapon was criticised by many as “a deluxe blowback smg”, essentially meaning it was too expensive in its form to be produced for war-time. This makes it a perfect candidate for Enlisted as this game includes many prototypes and niche weapons of the time period, mostly developed within the 1890s to the end of the 1940s.
Weapon stats comparison between Kiraly 39M (Hungarian SMG), the (proposed) V-43, the Sten Mk II, and the 100 Round Drum Mag Thompson (Fellow Paratrooper weapon, with a longer reload for 100 round magazine.
Damage - 9mm Parabellum, but documentation states “can be adapted by a slight change to any ammunition used in guns of similar types”. This can be fudged to allow the gun to have a 6.8 damage profile similar to the Lanchester, or maybe even higher if this is interpreted as using a larger 9mm parabellum of 9x25 instead of 9x19. The increased barrel length should give this gun more damage than the 6.6 of the Sten Mk II, since this gun will be used in BR4 instead of just BR1.
Long reload = Loading system slightly different than what soldiers expected, requiring the magazine catch to be held as the magazine is pushed up. Plus, the magazine is very bulky and large capacity, so the reload should be longer for game balancing reasons too.
On the topic of Magazines, the Paratroopers would have been able to bring a large number of magazines, but for game balancing reasons I’d suggest soldiers come equipped with 1+2 magazines (60/120 - 60 in the gun, 120 reserve).
More accurate than Sten Mk II (0.81). 10" Barrel Length vs the 20"~ Length of the Kiraly 39M. 7.7" Length for the Sten Mk II. A middle-ground of around 0.75 dispersion seems fair enough (For a BR4 SMG)
Weight = 4.08 kg (9Lbs + 8 Oz)
Bayonet - The gun has a built in bayonet that can be flipped around and attached to the end for close range combat, perfect for Enlisted
