BR4 - British Paratroopers equipped with the Veselý 43. (Premium / Event / Tech Tree squad)

Hey.

I think it would be really cool if Britain and Italy got their own tech trees (again?) since becoming “hidden” after the merge. Each faction needs some paratroopers right? Well the British became infatuated with the curious magazine mechanism of the Veselý 42 and Veselý 43 (V-42, V-43). These weapons were created in Britain by Czech Refugee Josef Veselý, for the BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) Company, sponsored and funded by a company called “British Graphitised Metals”. This company was connected with MI5 and there is a story including Double-Cross Agents to feed Germany false information. This weapon has a cool history and incredibly ingenious mechanisms used in the gun.

The Veselý 42 was still too large, even with its removable butt-stock, for Paratrooper use, but the V-43 was able to be taken apart in 3 pieces (Buttstock-Receiver-Barrel) for quick assembly when removed from Paratrooper haversack. The Paratroopers would quickly assemble their gun, and with so much space saved, able to bring between 2 to 4 of the 60 round magazines.

The weapon was criticised by many as “a deluxe blowback smg”, essentially meaning it was too expensive in its form to be produced for war-time. This makes it a perfect candidate for Enlisted as this game includes many prototypes and niche weapons of the time period, mostly developed within the 1890s to the end of the 1940s.

Weapon stats comparison between Kiraly 39M (Hungarian SMG), the (proposed) V-43, the Sten Mk II, and the 100 Round Drum Mag Thompson (Fellow Paratrooper weapon, with a longer reload for 100 round magazine.

Damage - 9mm Parabellum, but documentation states “can be adapted by a slight change to any ammunition used in guns of similar types”. This can be fudged to allow the gun to have a 6.8 damage profile similar to the Lanchester, or maybe even higher if this is interpreted as using a larger 9mm parabellum of 9x25 instead of 9x19. The increased barrel length should give this gun more damage than the 6.6 of the Sten Mk II, since this gun will be used in BR4 instead of just BR1.

Long reload = Loading system slightly different than what soldiers expected, requiring the magazine catch to be held as the magazine is pushed up. Plus, the magazine is very bulky and large capacity, so the reload should be longer for game balancing reasons too.

On the topic of Magazines, the Paratroopers would have been able to bring a large number of magazines, but for game balancing reasons I’d suggest soldiers come equipped with 1+2 magazines (60/120 - 60 in the gun, 120 reserve).

More accurate than Sten Mk II (0.81). 10" Barrel Length vs the 20"~ Length of the Kiraly 39M. 7.7" Length for the Sten Mk II. A middle-ground of around 0.75 dispersion seems fair enough (For a BR4 SMG)

Weight = 4.08 kg (9Lbs + 8 Oz)

Bayonet - The gun has a built in bayonet that can be flipped around and attached to the end for close range combat, perfect for Enlisted

Oops, my Czech friend corrected me on the pronunciation, assumed its Czech
I confused it with the ZH-29

bumping …deserves to be seen more

I havent seen this weapon before, so is a nice suprise!!!. I think it looks sweet! Love more commonwealth stuff

I need to read it properly…but how is that magazine only for 9mm? looks significantly larger

*EDIT: ah…and there it is

The standout feature of Vesely’s gun is its magazine, which is a double-column 60-round affair.

Honestly, I feel like this game already has too many rare/prototype/paper weapons. It’s understandable in cases like the Hei Automatic and Feodorov 1912 where a hole in the TT needs to be filled, but adding stuff that wasn’t used in WWII is going to make this into free battlefield

I agree…Thats what I wanted originally. Prototpyes to be restricted to events/premium.

But that is long gone now…I still might not like it when i see one added, but its fair game now…It shouldnt just be “okay” for some and not for others.

I might be old fashioned but rules apply to everyone or they apply to no one.

The Americans already have prototypes (specifically the T20), this isn’t a “they got one I want one too” situation. Prototypes should only be added if they are needed, and the Americans don’t need another smg in their TT.
Either you are against unnecessary prototypes and are against all of them, or you are not.

I make Commonwealth only decks. Thats my interest…its for the Brits, not the Americans ( I still havent bought any t20s or hydes )

I think the opposite. There’s never going to be enough of them. It’s just more content for more variety.

And I find WW2 prototypes and rare stuff much more interesting than post WW2 content.

so it’s “the Americans”, as sad as that is.

You know battlefield V goes for as low as a couple of bucks when its on sale

BFV has probably the worst gun play I have ever experienced, plus soldiers are bullet sponges.

no game is perfect

One look at the tech tree and its “clearly” Not just USA…even Victory screens say what it is…The Allies and the United Axis
