BR3 being able to fight all other BRs specifically hurts new players

On paper the Battle Rating 3 gamble seems fair:
You will be able to fight against all BRs above you, but in return you can also be matched against all BRs below you. So instead of being ± 1BR, you will be matched ±2BRs.
Now how does that actually influence the other BRs?

Battle Rating 5: will only fight against BR3, BR4, BR5

Battle Rating 4: will ALSO only fight against BR3, BR4, BR5

Battle Rating 3: will fight against all BRs

Battle Rating 2: will fight against BR1, BR2, BR3

Battle Rating 1: will ALSO fight against BR1, BR2, BR3.

With this system in place, there effectively are only two matchmaking queues,

Queue one: BR1, BR2, BR3
Queue two: BR3, BR4, BR5

Which BR profits from this the most? Its BR5 - not only because there obviously are no higher BRs, but because it has the chance to fight with BR4 AND BR3.

Which BR has the least from this mechanic? Its BR1 - not only because there are again no lower BRs, but it has the chance to fight against both BR2 AND BR3.

So to speak this BR system - thanks to the BR3 gambling + the fact that there are no BRs below BR1 and no above BR5 - is inherently bad for new players.

Now we can’t change the fact that the highest BR is indeed the highest BR - like the lowest BR can’t be fighting BR 0 since it doesn’t exist either.

But we can change the darn BR3 gamble mechanic which turns BR1 not only into a ± 1BR matchmaking, but actually into a + 2BR matchmaking.

Here is my proposal, since BR1 is the starting BR that is supposed to bring new players in - it should get its completely separated queue. BR1 should only be matched with BR1 players.

And to make sure that this doesn’t influence the matching times negatively, BR1 should start with more AI players - which will make BR1 a very beginner friendly environment, also making sure that reaching BR2 should be very very easy is essential.

If the devs want to keep new players they need to progress fast enough to unlock more powerful automatic weapons fast - while also making sure that reaching top BR gear will however take long enough to give a long time grinding goal.

Then - with BR1 being effectively excluded from the other BRs - effectively resulting in only 4 actual BRs existing, there will be no need for the BR3 gamble anymore.

I think having 4 queues is the best solution [1-2][2-3][3-4][4-5].

Failing that though, I would at least like to see BR 3 made into its own queue, so that it would be [1-2][3][4-5].

Devs should have shipped the update with +/-1 br already implemented ): the overhaul was a great step in the right direction but BR III is def an area that needs to be looked at

Rather 1-2,2-3,3-4,4-5 or 1-2,3-4 and 5 by itself so if you want to stick around 3 and 4, just don’t equip a br 5 weapon/vehicle and then you’re good. But my original overlapping system of 1-2,2-3,3-4, and 4-5 works too.

I dare to say that there are only 2 BRs at the moment worth playing,

since BR 4 and BR 5 have 100% exactly the same MM, and BR 1 needs to fight against BR 3,

only BR5 and BR2 are worth playing.

To be fair, their original 10 tier system wouldn’t have had this issue to be such a massive pain that it is now, but the community, especially here on the forums didn’t like it and thus they changed it…
So in a way, it’s the community’s own fault.

we indeed did ask for less BRs, though we never asked for BR 3 being all BRs at once.

Agreed, the only ones worth playing in my book are 2 and 5. So there needs to be rather the overlapping 4 queue system (1-2,2-3,3-4 and 4-5) or the three queue system (1-2,3-4 and 5) with optional uptiers. Preferably I’d favor the four queues system as it keeps 1 from 3 and 3 from 5 however the overlapping queues add diversity within gameplay. Also with both queues you can throw early war into low br and late tier gets late war and then mid tier (rather 2-3 and 3-4 or just 3-4 with the three queue system) can get a mix of early and late with the preferred map system as they add more campaigns.

This original post makes sense - and shouldn’t even effect general queue issues as apparently new players should already be in somewhat separate queues if I’m not mistaken?

Just give them the option to leave the new player environment when they’re ready by starting to equip BR2.

Or maybe this proposed exclusive BR1 queue should also exclude players after a certain amount of time, or xp, or unlocks - to also stop it getting exploited by experienced players and prevent people staying out of the ‘main game’ too long.

I don’t think BR 1 - 3 would even be bad if all players had had a proper introduction to the game and were somewhat experienced with more unlocks… and maybe even premium accounts having had a good new player experience.

99% of the issues with it are inexperienced players, no rallies, nobody attacking objective. I mean a lot of teams don’t even seem to understand the different game modes.

And you can easily tell this is the issue at this point in the battle pass season by player ranks.

well apparently those also exist in Br5

Objectively wrong. It’s just unfair for me to be going up against br 3 and 4 players with assault rifles, mines, machine guns, and 1000+ hours played and sh!t. You wanna smurf around in Br1? Play with Br1 gear. You like the devs decision to be filling games with squads with nothing but a crusty bolt action rifle and no good means of engaging in close quarters combat? You’re the problem.

BR3 ruined the gaming experience of everyone. Once these BR3 players entered BR5’s room, they would either flee or sleepwalk on the battlefield, causing BR5 players to experience a surge in blood pressure. Once they entered BR1’s room, they transformed into war gods and crazily slaughtered new players. This prosperous era is as you wish, Darkflow!
