Been trying out the sniper squads after quite some time again, and I wanna say that I am confused at how little sense some of those placements make.
The gewehr 98 being BR3? Really? Very poor magnification, bad reload speed and terrible firerate overall. I wouldn’t even pick it in BR1, since the standard Kar98k is simply the better rifle.
Or the short carcano being BR1 - despite it shooting fast, and it reloads very very fast with a 6 round clip - rather unique for a rifle with a scope.
That Carcano is pretty much on par with a Gewehr43 when it comes to pure killing power.
And also since we are at it, the Sniper Gewehr43 is not cutting it in BR4, just like the Sniper FG42 being very poor - simply because they lack in accuracy to reliably take out targets past 200 Meters - for the FG42 its even worse, its poor accuracy makes the weapon useless at long range combat, while its extremely strong magnification makes the weapon useless at medium ranges as well.
And last thing, Sniper MKB and STG are no sniper rifles at all - which is why they mostly only get used for an extra Assaulter in your regular squads without the scope.
I don’t understand why the sniper class gets so little love in this game.
Sniper MKB is very powerful, but its just like you said an assault rifle and no sniper rifle, it has no range advantage or plays any different then regular STGs.
Not true. It has slight range advantage and it is more comfortable to use.
Good players can use the advantages of this weapon to much better results than with a classic Stg. While for average players it will be more of a burden in comparison to classic Stg.
And thus, it creates a huge gap between players.
It’s a classic case where skill really plays a role.
The fact that it is classified as a sniper weapon is the best limitation for it.
Because it can only be equipped 3 times in a squad of five people. Unlike an assaulter squad, where it could be equipped 4x in a squad of 7 people.
Same goes for Soviets semi snipers (which are extremely underrated).
Don’t know man, the differences are very neglectable in my book, not only that but snipers don’t get the vitality perk - which is yet again a very hurtful compromise.
Yes, that’s something which really sucks. Still, I’m definitely not giving up my mkb42 for this.
Like don’t get me wrong. If I was selfish I’d be happy if the gun was available for assaulters.
But I don’t think it would do the game any good. And that’s why I believe the current state is probably better.
Well the MKB specifically always bothered me, like when it came to Moscow it made Sniper squads more useful in general than Assaulter squads, specifically because it made snipers perform better at the role that assaulters were supposed to fill - the logic that a sniper variant has a higher rate of fire than a regular version makes no sense.
Its a better assault rifle - not a sniper rifle.
A sniper rifle version would have better control, more accuracy, and much less recoil and arguably even a slower rate of fire - to make it do what a sniper needs to do.
Im willing to take that risk.
My sniper squad has 2 sniper STG44s and a sniper FG II.
Since most combat happens in less than 100m and I want to play the objective even as a sniper, I don’t often find enemies out of range of these weapons.
A few typical exceptions are Moltke bridge, fallen heroes square.
They don’t deserve love at all in this game tbh, camping far from the objective is bad, and that’s why Sniper III with AR is the best one if you want to win games
