BR 1 now has protected MM where it can’t see anything at BR 3 now.
BR 2 remains the most competitive and most balanced BR where it cannot see BR 4.
BR 3 is still feast or famine depending on uptiers or downtiers.
BR 5 is literally at the end of the pack.
BR 4 is still an underdog BR that exists solely to prevent equipment too good to see BR 2 from meeting them, but will never, by itself, be the top rank.
What’s the point differentiating between BRs 4 and 5 when matchmaking doesn’t give it a matchmaking bracket where there is both a positive and a negative aspect?
It certainly doesn’t help that BR 4 is full of largely undesirable equipment such as slightly better semi automatic rifles, smgs that may or may not have a bigger mag size, lmgs that have a little bit more ammo in the magazine than its predecessors, largely irrelevant tanks. and flamethrowers.
There is no reason at all to make a BR 4 roster because you are still guaranteed to meet BR 5, which has objectively better equipment.
It can in a III-IV only match
Personally I see the offerings of IV as more of an alternative choice to III or V. You could use the BAR, or you could use the Johnson. You could use the Garand, or you could use the…other Johnson. Lol. You could go for the M2, T20, or M1919A6, or stay with the IV’s. A choose which you prefer type of deal
They’re more flavor options, with a pro and con to them. You will never enjoy the BR II matches of BR III, but you do get some slight upgrades here and there. And who knows, maybe you prefer one piece of BR IV equipment over a BR V. Say, you don’t like auto rifles or find the end game tank/plane not to your liking
this could be excellent meme material… make lineup just from m2 weapons. m2(a4), m2 mortar, m2 stinger, m2 carbine, m2 hyde, m2 flamethrower, m2 browning HMG, m2 mine and we can take some planes equipped with m2 guns.
Yeah I agree. They could make it a bit better by lowering some gear to BRIV though, like they did with the Gerät.
Or adding a German BRIV gun that is an actual upgrade or an alternative to the Thompson for US, since there is no reason not play the BRIII versions. Something like that.
BR4 is actually far more enjoyable than BR5, it does depend the faction, I use BR4 on soviets (Kv2), axis (tiger, g55), allies (Jumbo, Callliope), but some things like TDs need to be reduced imho. BR4 is not irrelevant sorry.
It is a problem that could be solved if they let the player lock the Tier in which they want to play, this would cause a longer wait time, but in this way the game would be equal, in the best case if it were not possible to fill the tier with real players, bots could enter, which would leave it up to each player to have that option enabled or not. It is the most viable option.
Level four is irrelevant because of the BR matchmaking, as is level three Allies/Japan level three. IF DF would just make BR 5 a stand alone BR rating, which it should, then BR3-4 would be a great level. Both have similar weapons in that their semi auto’s are full time semi auto’s, where BR5 is fully turbo charged fully auto weapons all across the board.
Personally, I would go back to playing a lot of level three allies if the soft rule would go away, till then, I strictly play level two and level five with allies
