In an optimal world AI would be as deadly as players up close - while being much much stronger at mid range combat and even being a real threat at 100 meters past.
I think having dumb bots is sort of fun because you get to shoot a lot of dumb bots. On the other hand their behaviour is incredibly annoying since they never do as you say and always get stuck.
Especially shit like blocking you when shooting or building, that should really be programmed out.
Overall, I do like the system with bots. It makes the game fun but sometimes there just very annoying.
Overall, the BOTS in this game are probably the poorest quality BOTS I have ever seen in a video game. It’s bad enough that they run in front of you when your shooting, but they don’t stay where you order them to. One or two might stay where ordered, but two will be standing out in the open outside the building somewhere and one might be in a building or bunker 50 to 100 meters away. They also run around like crack heads that haven’t had a fix in days. They are also worthless if your sprinting to the next cap point as NONE of them will sprint and NONE of them will keep up. I guess it is to complicated for DF to program them to sprint when you sprint.
Like many other issues with the game people have complained for a couple years or so, and like the other things people complain about, nothing changes.
I guess DF did respond to some people complaining and neutered he AP mines to the point where they are all but worthless now, but I guess the good news with that is the BOTS that are running around going through crack withdraws won’t be dying on the AP mines. However since they are going through withdraws out in the open they’re being shot before they can stumble on an AP mine anyway.
FYI: if you order them with the individual command in a spot they will stay put until you reach max distance ( arty also makes them scatter). Not a real solution for the problem but more a kind of workaround. Annoying downside is you always have to do lots of inputs so binding the command to the mousewheel (or any other “easy spammable” key) helps a lot.
