Bombs recently bugged/unreliable?

Yeah thats the thing that took me a while to think somethings wrong. At first you think maybe its just me, But after a while you start to thank “hang on…how did that miss”

Then @Adamnpee said something similar so i started paying more attention

Found the Perfect shot.

Another Direct Hit with a 500lb bomb on a Panzer IV no less…No damage.

The Bombs MUST be under the terrain/Map Mesh

That says it all. I knew there was something wrong with the bombs.

This is the second significant bug you’ve discovered in a just couple of days.

yup you were right

@Euthymia07 @James_Grove Just FYI. I have logged Bug report, But This video Clearly shows what we have been experiencing. Bombs are bugged, and its more than just being slightly below them. Might be Map mesh Clip?

begs the question…Are rockets, grenades and HE working properly???

Have not looked through replays yet myself, but may not need to with this clip.

Now the question is, with the ever growing list of issues that need addressing, how long before this is fixed?

Today I dropped a 250kg on a BT-7. When the bomb exploded, the tank (backing) was about 2 meters from the tank and it only got tracked. That, seems a bit surprising for a BT-7.

2m? Definitely bugged

Just adding some proof to this topic for bug report
(vid from my earlier topic, bomb didnt stick to tank, tank successfully drove away and avoided destruction)

Not really
HVARs are so strong its hard to notice but for example RBS-82s are kinda a crapshoot right now too…sometimes one will kill an entire 9man squad …and then today ive had trouble killing GAZ AAAs even though I was hammering them over and over…coupled with the fact that 1941 IL2 for whatever has nerf darts loaded into Shvaks it was frustrating to say the least (i have no idea why only the 1941 IL2 does almost nothing to vehicles…hell I’ve had to hose the damn unarmored APCs down like my trigger got stuck and even then half the time they’d just be mostly fine

Maybe all explosives have a chance of not working. Have had multiple experiences of directly hitting a troop with a rifled grenade only to receive a hit marker. Or even the occasional explosion pack not killing a tank when it appeared to be in the sweet spot.

May also be all damage in general. Every now and then will clearly get shot and receive no damage. Saw the guy shoot and hear the thud but I was somehow unscathed. Can even recall an instance as a newcomer where I stabbed an enemy about 4 times with a knife and did no damage whatsoever. Sometimes even while bayonet charging, what should have been a sure kill left me dead and wondering, wtf!?

Maybe it’s a latency issue? Had a friend swear that it would happen consistently against PS players while using Xbox. I definitely do not know.

Latency i umderstand with small arms. But a big ass bomb?

lol yeah. Does seem ridiculous

Yesterday I was practicing my bombing and noticed that the crater from the 500 lb bomb from the P-47D-28 was 1.5 times larger than the 500 lb from the Mosquito.
As an amateur I would expect 2 different bombs of 500 lb each to have the same power?
Perhaps they contain different explosive material or something, the resource page doesnt mention explosive power.

P-47D-28 500 lb: 2 sandbags width

Mosquito 500 lb: 1,5 sandbags width

mosquito: 65.5 kg of tnt
A-20: 162.81 kg of tnt equivalent
so the bombs are very different even if they’re of similar weight

Wow that is weird!
So the total weight of the bombs is the same, but their content is very different.
I would call the British bomb very inefficient then, since it needs no less than 161.3 kg of bomb to transport just 65.5 kg of tnt.
While the USA bomb only needs 64 kg of bomb to transport 162.8 kg of tnt.
This game actually learns me new things, sometimes.

Thanks for explaining.

The British one might be an armor piercing bomb, with a much thicker casing, useful against warships or concrete bunkers.

Well they have accepted the Bug report, lets see what they find. Thanks people.

Thanks for reporting this issue.

Meanwhile the timed fuse is also driving me nuts.
Perhaps if the bomb goes more kaboom, this is no longer an issue.
I cant bomb much better than this.
But the tank will just drive away and laugh at me.

Me: hang on to these

Tank: hmmm thats a big bomb…

Let me just drive forward a little bit

Just some track damage, engine and fuel tanks no problem

I think when they find out whats going on, this should be somewhat resolved aswell. It was working really well in September 2024 (I know because this is the last time I was making alot of Aircraft footage, no tank was safe from the precision 50kg)

@Adamnpee @_WARHEAD @TnT-Zealoth @TACTIGUHL I just noticed something else that is Contributing to bombs feeling “off”

The drop point is wrong (at least on All wing mounted planes)

has this been noted @Euthymia07 ???
