I am trying to get the grasp of how to use the bombs on a plane, i seem to be unable to hit the side of a barn with them.
Are then any things i need to know in order to improve my appalling aim?
The two biggest mistakes I see from poorly performing bombers is coming in way too fast and not coming in steep enough. If you’re screaming over the battlefield flying level at 400kp/h the window you have to press space and have your bombs land on target is miniscule.
So when you approach your target kill your throttle and engage combat flaps if you’ve got them. Come in at as steep of a dive as you feel comfortable at in that aircraft (~35 degrees with the IL-2 for me). Don’t touch the rudder and as soon you start to pull out of the dive, the moment the nose of the aircraft is pointed at your target, release the bombs.
