Bomb sights for dedicated bombers

Dedicated bombers, like the JU-188 A-2, should have some form of bombardier sights to use when lining up for a run (much like in War Thunder, which is why I know they can do this). The lack of pilot controlled armaments and the (best word I can think of) “finnicky” nature of getting an idea where you’re going to be dropping bombs is frustrating.

Currently it feels very much like rolling the dice or getting lucky to have a good hit, or a hit at all, with the JU-188, and it leaves me going back to my tried and true BF-110 to do ground attacks, which I have actually attained more kills in a single strafe with than the 6 250kg bombs.

It would be nice to have a bit more of an idea where I am going to be letting those bombs fall to help my team stop a push, and not just taking up our attack plane slot and making a semi-reasonable guess as to where I am going to unleash death on the ground. Probably in that wheat filed over there…those poor f*%^#&g field mice…RIP.

I’m trying to make this functionality in the editor, but I’m not getting it right

I think this requires the developers to port this camera from War Thunder

What have you been trying to do, if I might ask?

Also note that I am playing on console (please don’t judge, I like my large screen and the use of a controller, and I play console v. console only) so I am also wondering what kind of implementation could be added on that front?

The D-Pad is nearly unused in the air, since you can’t change seats in flight (or heal, I don’t think?) so that could be a place to map it to? I am unsure of the PC equivalent

There is a function of switching cameras in the game, but because they hidden the shortcut key setting, we cannot set the shortcut key to switch the camera.

i just wait for them to do something

OH…my…screaming intensifies

I saw a youtube video of someone piloting a JU-188 third person, and I was trying to figure out HOW? They probably were able to break into some code and reactivate/uncomment the line that has that function blocked from users setting a value for it.

UGH. Welp. Is there any other place to talk to/ask the devs to make this QOL improvement? TBH they have been pretty good as of late with some of the patches.

Do you suppose they recorded the video while using the replay feature (in third person)?

So I have only very recently heard of that feature, and I 100% have no clue how to access that, OR chat on Xbox Enlisted.

That could very well be an explanation, and going off of Occam’s Razor, would probably be the correct answer at the end of the day.

Cant lie, I had to spend a LOT of time in practice mode to get a good feel for where my bombs would land. A bomber sight would be nice

As of today’s recent update I saw that they added the replay feature to xbox and playstation.

I play on a series X and saw the replay feature is available from the menu.

Just go to the main lobby (solder loadout screen), and open the menu at the top right hand side. The replay option is like the 2nd one from the top

(I have not tested it though)

Yes, I think bombsights for dedicated bombers would be good. a20, Ju188, Breda, Mossie(?), Not sure what else…

I tried it last night and it wasn’t functioning, but I can try again today. I am on plain Xbox One (2015 model). I am hoping it works, though. I installed Enlisted on my PC because I finally had a good plane game last night (over 5k score, 64 kills, 4 planes downed, 2 tanks, and only 5 squads lost…with a LOT of gameplay using my small SMG squad…er…I mean my JU-188 crew  )

I do too, I have spent a ton of time on my FW-190 (bought it, no regrets, the thing is amazing), as well as my BF-110 stock/upgraded.

The flight characteristics, ability to put guns on ground targets to…er…“feel” them out beforehand, all of that helps with knowing where to put bombs or rockets. The JU-188 isn’t a fighter-bomber or a fighter that carries bombs, or a DIVE bomber…it’s just a bomber, technically a strategic one? It needs the ability to perform that role, and a bombsight will help that significantly.

AA guns exist, enemy fighters exist, there are lot of deterrents to folks abusing it…and people on the ground move, like…a LOT. If you are dropping from height to avoid damage, then there is a good likelihood you’ll miss even an aimed shot, which I feel is a good argument against people abusing/spamming having a sight.

But if you are flying at like, 180-400 ALT and have your engines cut, and flaps down (maybe even GEAR down) and you KNOW where you need to hit because it’s been marked by your team…and you MISS…that is a really awful gameplay experience.

I like the Bomber Call-ins and the few bombers we can fly, in fact I think there could be more that could be added to the Bomber Call-ins like formations or even different payloads;

But how would you feel about them adding more playable bombers in general

Payloads and different flights of bombers (or even bombers with escorts?) would be nice additions to the radio squad and make them a little better and more valued in the game sphere.

Add 4-5 more “nodes” in the Blue Tree for the Radio squad with more options, and add more bombers overall. Honestly it would be really nice if we could also have more than two planes in the match at once (but like, no more than four). It would allow newer pilots the chance to get experience without having to worry about being singled out by an ace. "

On my lunch break I juked the hell out of a rookie P-38 or P-47 (I didn’t really care which type of plane was shooting at me, I had more pressing matters…) with my FW-190, and then he got ahead of me and BAM, gone. Had there been other planes to worry about, or something, I dunno (AI using the engineer built AA?) maybe it would be different. But he was the only other valid air target, and he picked the wrong fight.

IDK, I’m just talking. I really like this game and I see so much more they can do with it.
