I just want to say, I am very, very happy with the changes that have been brought to the game this patch.
I adore the way bolt actions function now - as a primarily bolt-action user I have played nothing but infantry squads since the update released, and I am in heaven.
The changes made to the movement stances are also a breath of fresh air for this game, which has suffered too long from a playerbase that plays this game because they can’t afford Call of Duty and the console to run it on. I look forward to seeing how the pace of the game changes in the next few months, because no doubt it has a bright future ahead of it.
Yes it’s a good change and new players will now have a fighting chance and won’t leave the game after getting stomped by high level players with outrageously superior weapons.
It makes being a new player competitive!
Sure, you don’t have much to use when you’re a new player, but you can play just as good as those who have the full campaigns unlocked just by using even non-upgraded bolts.
The point is to unlock new tools. Different weapons for different situations, for example you can clear a room with one if you’re skilled enough, but it’s much easier to do with an smg. In some situations the semi auto is better too, especially now, with the last update.
The main benefit is for people who don’t have thousands of bronze and silver orders cluttering up their logistics screens.
As you know, all new squads come with THE featured weapon, and the rest of the soldiers are stuck with basic bolt rifles.
This makes those extra soldiers at least somewhat viable (even though they are always rifleman/troopers) and might also mean that people don’t have to keep throwing away orders on purchasing weapons because they feel they aren’t “competitive.”
A big problem with changes like these is 90% of the people posting on this forum have been here since April/May of last year…and I think we all forget, from time to time, what it’s like to have to claw your way up the progression trees across the different campaigns.
Which i think most likely makes much less difference now because the base damage is already very high. Stock guns already OHK at high probability at usual ranges. I think this made more difference before the update. Just my opinion though.
I have almost all campaigns unlocked, but I will use primarily bolts after this patch. Nothing is more satisfying than dropping someone with 1 shot , while their at full run speed trying to cross a road or go to an objective.
They have better sights, better damage, grenade launcher, and so on. But the real reason is that this is a gaijin game and they want us to grind like pigs or pay.
