Body armor

Players can buy from logistics body armour for there soliders. During WW2 the USA started then selfed and restarted near the end of the war, the USSR say several variants be made, the NAZIs more often not stole armor off dead soviets to use in battle, lay the Japan only rarely used it. I hope if added has the match progress the armors durability weakens and then at sertion point becomes useless they they start a new game to get the amour back at full health, and also like how players can equip other players weapons they can pick up amour off there dead bodies.

Imperial Japan body amour was a shirt like armour with iron plates inside of it.

USSR created different ones with the numbers at the end to show year of use. From what could see the amour was cheap to make and ugly has they used almost completely metal wielded together with few changes over the war
SN-38

SN-39
SN-40, SN-40A
SN-42, made of 2 mm steel 36SGN, the tolerances 1.8 - 2.2 mm, weight of Chest 3.3 - 3.5 kg. It protected an area measuring 0.2 square meters.

British and Canadian wore their body amour under their clothes.
The Infantry model

Air Force used a flak jacket has it was found that air pilots weren’t killed by the bullets hitting them but more often the metal fragments from the plane hitting them.

USA infantry had several problems from being to blocky or price to make to many it was only near the end of the war did they start to see use during the pacific campaign but largely unused.

True, soviet soldiers in Berlin campaign are wearing body armor. It is called “stalnoj nagrudnik”:

It’s included on some character models with benefits currently. Maybe can be added as veterans perk?

Anything that increases customization options in terms of looks and gameplay is welcomed. Could be used as new backpack option that would lets say slightly reduce damage taken by bullets. Ig balanced properly it would minimally help with smg / automatic spraying everywhere, but not really be overpowered.

I don’t think these stop anything but SMG/pistol caliber rounds and only at longer ranges, and shrapnel

WW2 armor can not be balanced, because it makes you survive smgs, but is useless against MGs and rifles.

I already dislike the perk. The body armor we have ingame doesn’t change much, but is a bit of an eyesore to me from a gameplay perspective. Everybody and their mom uses AR’s - This is a consequence of making 1-2 hit kills with semi auto rifles (and bursts with SMG’s) unreliable. If anything I would like them to add it as a visual component to indicate the vitality perk.

i would make frist Helmets To be a equip, and after boby armor in the same armor slot.

Body armor (“stalnoj nagrudnik”) has a thickness of about 2 mm.

ALL in game weapons (besides anti-tank like PTRS) have an armor penetration of 1 mm at distance 10 m and only 0.1 mm at distance 1500 m.

So… to insert the body armor, developers would need to change this in first place.

(lower penetration for pistols and SMGs, higher for rifles and MGs)

My proposition of the in-game mechanics:

  1. Body armor (stalnoj nagrudnik) has 1 mm thickness.

  2. Bolt-action rifle at 100 m deals 20 damage and penetrates 5 mm of armor —> soldier wearing body armor will receive only 16 damage.

  3. Pistol at 50 m deals 3 damage and penetrates 1.5 mm of armor —> soldier with body armor will receive only 1 damage.

(damage reduction is proportional to the armor thickness and weapon’s armor penetration)

  4. Body armor is available in the logistics, it costs 3 or 4 silver orders. It can be used by assaulter and engineer, but requires a special perk.

Drawback of this, is that some light tanks (Panzer II and T-60) have very thin armor (4- 5 mm) so in theory bolt action rifles would damage them. But in practice I think that these 4- 5 mm thick parts are only some external (additional ?) armor.
