Blocking rooms with Czech Hedgehogs

It’s not when the existing system isn’t realistic anyway.

You did by throwing in unrelated shit like reworking barbed wire.

That is why I am proposing more realism through removing the ability to destroy barbed wire, which would be a nerf to the explosive pack, not a rework to barbed wire.

I never suggested a barbed wire rework.

That is a nerf to explosive packs, not barbed wire.

Whatever you say

I could say you throw in “unneeded shit” by suggesting an explosive pack rework to balance the hedgehogs but it is relevant enough, and I merely replied to that, saying I would rather see it go the other way and have it be nerfed instead of buffed. So step off that little throne you think you’re on.

This is a hedgehog thread.

Then why are you talking about explosive packs. Those are not hedgehogs

Oh maybe because, just like the barbed wire, it still applies to the topic

Explosive packs as a means to destroy hedgehogs hmmmmmm…

Until there’s a more expedient way for infantry to demolish them I don’t see what other options we have.
There’s Bangalore torpedos, but that’s a long-term fix when we need a short term, and while faster dismantling is better than what we have now, I don’t see it as a true fix.

Rebalancing all obstacles against eachother is a more extensive approach right now, and should be the step looked at after the short term bandaid.

And for me it’s vice versa. I see it as a fix while buffing packs would be bad imo.

Here’s what I’m seeing:

*The problem is that hedgehogs serve as a better infantry barrier than sandbags and barbed wire.

*Hedgehogs are a better barrier because they cover more verticle space and can only be dismantled manually, while other barriers are cleared by explosive packs.

*Cutting dismantling time makes them less painful of an issue, however they’re still a better barrier they’re still the best barrier because of their height and durability.

*Explosive vulnerability eliminates the durability issue entirely.

So their height will still be an issue in the short term regardless, but with just shortening manual destruction they’re still the best barrier available.

They also cost more time to build and more resources, so they should be better.

The barrier isnt better at straight up blocking someone without someone guarding it, though. As they can still crawl underneath it.

It’s the best at straight up blocking someone.
Barbed wire- literally walk through it with no other input and lose a sliver of health while getting through faster than crawling under a hedgehog.
Sandbags- press space and you’ve climbed over it.

It costs more but not so much more as to actually make any difference. Nerfing cost isn’t an option either because that will ruin its intended purpose.

Depends on where and how you place them

Not to mention they are ment to be cover, not blockades.

Same with barbed wire, they are ment as area denial in that you don’t want people walking in that exact spot

Hedgehogs are the only one designed to be a barricade to prevent things from passing

Those things being tanks and not people, where it’s also more of an area denial factor meant to funnel tanks into killzones.
Especially considered IRL people aren’t inflexible boards who get completely stuck on a thin bar.

There’s a long-term solution for that (pass-obstacle button a la arma), but I’m still focusing short-term.

Hedgehogs aren’t meant to block infantry, that’s what wire is for.
