Better damage models for buildable guns required

this was issue for anti tank guns already, sometimes the bullet would just turn into sparks when shooting a soldier standing next to it (especially when they are behind trails (thing that keeps AT guns from moving back when they shoot)

but now, with addition of heavy mgs, things just got worse; who did not notice that damage model of those guns is garbage? it feels like as if its operator is hidden behind metal sheets.

and not only should damage model be improved, but damage mechanics themself as well, in current state, hmgs can just eat infinite amount of bullets with no consequence. make hmgs take damage from bullets! i got ideas, if you need them, but i dont believe i should be that specific, so do something about it.

HMGs simply have overpowered hp. They get killed by rifle caliber, but you need to throw about 37 bullets. So it’s just need to be nerfed

Yeah, all stacionary guns have some weird damage models. Maybe except MG nest.

Ive come to find (at least on pacific) that hitting any HMG placement with 1-2 anti-tank rifle shots will completely destroy it. Its actually funny seeing them stand and look around in amazement when the thing they were spamming aimlessly into the trees just disappears in front of them before getting blown to bits by a 3rd shot.

MG nests gets destroyed by random bullet…

i think that in addition to this, the MG’s should be repairable, so when its shot out, it wont be left as a pushable prop that eventually dissapears and you would be basically doomed if you relied on that mg, instead it will be turned into a damaged model once shot enough times (it wont be 1 shotted as easily as its now), it can still be used, but when you try to fire it, it will just click and not fire, an engineer would be required to repair the mg, kind of like repairing a tank.

isnt this already a thing?

i… dont know i havent played in a while, the last time i tried building a mg with a engineer, it immediatly got shot down, and the sandbag barricade it was on got easily destroyed

You can repair MG if it’s knocked off

From what you are talking about, I think the correct term you are looking for is “hitboxes”.

“braces”

They DO take damage from bullets. It just takes a bit. (The standard MG nests get broken by a single bullet hitting them.) A machine gun can disable an HMG nest fairly quickly. → I will note that I don’t think SMGs do significant damage to them. So if that is what you are trying to use, that may be why.

Technically you can “repair” them, but the issue is that its the same button to fix it as to break it down. (I’m messing with the controls to see if I can change it, but I only have so many options on console.) The trouble is that it breaks down faster than it repairs. So I end up breaking the whole thing instead of repairing it.
