Best strategies for commanding your squad

Just curious to hear what some of your strategies are for getting the most out of your whole squad and commanding the AI.

Obviously just running in to the objective with them on your tail mostly just ends up with your AI being wiped out but also having them just sit in cover at a distance while you run in one at a time also seems to miss the point of why they’re there, so I’m curious to hear how clever some of you get with your squad tactics and what you find works for you.

I generally make my approaches where there are blind spots so every 50 meters I can park my squad in hard cover while I go ahead and scout (squad respawn method). Using K and individual squad placement you can cramp them into really small areas.

If I am hunting a tank or an emplacement I order them one way as a distraction while I go the other way for an ambush.

If you want them to engage, make sure they are holding and not concentrating on moving. Again using K to specifically tell them where to stand overides their need to move (breaking their concentration). Also use spot to get their attention. (MG gunners squads tend to be the best, AI perform better with high RPM and hard hitting). Also some maps have dense bushes, if you camp them here they engage through bushes.

I use full 9 man rifle man squads in wide stance(ressurection spec perks) to absorb large volumes of fire (very useful when people are running around with PPSH drum mags, they expend sooo much more ammo per bot) or to spawn in at the oppurtune moment to burst capture objective points. Also you would be suprised how many kills they get due to there being so many of them with 1 shot kill rifles

for limited options…they are still somewhat useful

I always order them to stay back so I don’t lose them in one second.

AI is nothing but a quick respawn and cannon fodder.

You give yourself the answer already.

Dont want AI too close.
Dont want AI too far.
So somewhere in the middle is fine.

I Leapfrog units.

Medics/engineers kept back

Assaulters/MGs, move forward but dig in and cover at mid range

Infantry, charge in. Giving you time to do what you need to. Seeing how the casualties result can give you an idea of your next squad rotation.

By the time you get close, reset your engineer/medic placement since you cleared the area. (Gives time to place medpacks and rallies)

Replace assaulter/MG line

If the infantry survives youre starting to cap, and you can place them in better spots

Otherwise, Rinse repeat.

I also use them to build fortifications very quick. Ill have an entire defensive line in less than a min lol

i mostly go where my AI is less likely to be killed, but sometimes, there are not enough people pushing, and you have to go into meat grinder with your squad yourself.

now, you can either use them as a distraction and get somewhere with single soldier, then attack commando mode…
or you can not run, but walk and maybe even take pauses when you want your AI to return fire, tell them to be far apart, so they dont get wiped out with single explosion and mark everywhere you see enemy / think will be, if conditions are right, results will be very satisfying.

Non
U dont need any strategy. Ai is letarlly designed to be killed by anyone unless you are a quadruple amputatee sloth. Just rush frontally and kill as many as you can.
