Best engineer reward, needs reworked

It’s pretty lame how a player can score 2-3x as many engineering points as the next best player, and not receive the engineer reward entirely because] the player did not score a higher number of kills while using an engineer as a combat soldier.

If a player uses the engineer as a fighting soldier and does NOT build a single engineering structure, but the same player scores a surplus of enemy kills and scores higher points than a player who’s using an engineer to build defenses/ammo boxes/rallies/etc. for the entire team

Why does the engineer reward go to the player who built NOTHING?

It’s pretty lame how my team is composed of 4 quitters, 3 brand new players, bots, and a few experienced players… and even though I scored 126 engineering points, the reward is given to someone who only has 48… I even killed more soldiers than this player, but because he destroyed 4 vehicles, he was given an “engineer” reward? TF?

To rub salt into the “wound”, I lost rank points because our team lost (and I didn’t receive a battle-hero reward).

No wonder player-stacks are able to level up so fast, compared to solo and f2p players who are at the mercy of broken teams (and being penalized for losses).

The next screenshot is another example.

45 engineering points (me)
vs
14 engineering points (the player who got the reward)

For the developers, please take a look at how the engineer reward is given and make it so the player who scores the highest engineering points as the recipient.

They have no intention of really fixing this because they want to reward the Run in gun play instead of people making kill zones.

not all engineering points are made equal. you could make 10 barbed wires and earn same score that someone gets with 1 rally points spawn. no to mention use of AT gun or AA gun to kill tanks or planes.

but in general i agree that the award should go for best specialist purpose. so best mortarman should go to the man who kills most people with mortar, or best radio man for radio man that gets most kills with arty strike and arty kills should automatically go to radio man and not to whatever soldier you are controlling while calling in arty strike, or engineer that earns most points by engineer structure.

i would even modify the rewards that best machine gunner would go to the soldier who kills most people with machine gun no matter if he is machine gunner class or not. same with best AT soldier award but with number of tanks destroyed as infantry soldier.

I think its a bit odd that best engineer is based on kills. But that is consistant with the rest of them though.

Isnt there another reward based on buildables. “tactician” i think?

This

I found my old picture, where in destruction mode, I did almost nothing else, but I set traps near bombs, made all kinds of weird booby-snares, and “trolled” the enemy team with my engineers. Finally we won. I got a badge. So I think the badges are global from actions in battle, kills don’t matter.

It probably is, just that kills xp is faster and easier to come by.

I think thats the tactician badge I was talking about, not the best engineer. (I think tactician is based on buildables. could be wrong)

Yes. This is exactly the “tactician” badge i got there

Yeah I totally understand how the system is working. I’m just saying that it’s flawed.
Getting kills vs using the engineer to build things that help the team, should be on two separate scoring-systems.
Because as it stands, a player who builds a single AT cannon to destroy one tank for 350+ experience points, has more engineering-value than someone who’s actively building defenses to deny the enemy team access to the objective, and is also building sandbags/hedgehogs to protect teammates from incoming gunfire.

Why should an engineer even try to support the team, and instead camp in the grey zone with an AT cannon or AA gun, to farm vehicle kills for XP?

Just like GreyParrot has said,

the current system is not promoting teamwork. But is instead pushing ZERG fighting with brute-force (SMG’s, Flamethrowers, Machineguns, paratroopers, tank spamming, and aircraft cycling).

We don’t even have a proper command-wheel for the team to communicate with each other.

I think it’s based on score (not XP) as engineer.

I think it should be based on score for engineering specific tasks.

Using a field gun or AA gun should, for sure, get good score here vs. barbed wire or sandbags.

Whatever the case, it’s sort of broken right now.
