DF claims it would be ahistorical to open moscow & tunisia maps to all BRs, despite many wanting it. This clearly would lead to more fun & less boring repetitive games.
Playing BR3 soviets today and getting 4 berlin maps in a row, where i was driving a KV1 & flying early war IL2s it became clear, that the argument used by DF is just a meaningless obstacle. New players will constantly spam absolutely ahistorical stuff into BR5 games after they got themselves 1 high BR item for the otherwise br1 army. High BR games will never be historical, no matter how hard some claim it. Low br is also often times ahistorical already due to power level adjusted late war items.
—> just fuck the unnecessary, unfun & as just proven dysfunctional BR separation of tunisia and moscow maps and let all BRs play them.
as DF always wants profit for everything, here is the best argument:
a) more fun maps to play on BR5: people spend more to grind & buy high br stuff.
b) more fun game → much better game → people spend more
this last point DF doesnt seem to understand, as otherwise many short sighted decisions would have been made differently.
Yes; also you say how you want a map selection system
But you can’t have that because br3 players will keep on picking tunisia/moscow to be set up against BR2 players which isnt fair. in order to remove this we must open tunisia/moscow to everyone.
The maps of Moscow and Tunisia are very open. As usual, they are one huge shot from one end to the other. 88 and 122 high-explosive shells, as well as HVAR and some laserguns like FG or RD on such maps are a PAIN. For same reason, everyone simply hates maps of the Pacific Ocean. But PO is much worse.
→ highly exaggerated statement. most normandy maps are tanking paradises, roughly half of the moscow maps at best are as easily tanked as the normandy maps. by that including moscow into all BRs will reduce tanking. also people have to stop being negative about anything and instead properly weigh pros and cons.
pointing one possible problem and dismissing something due to that is nonsense. basically all “problems”/“counterarguments” usually posted in the forum (not in this thread so far) are superficial shower thoughts without any analysis.
more fun, more variety & more choices across BRs definitely outweighs singular complains about a few maps.
edit: also the “problem of tanks” is in general highly overstated, mostly by players who want easy instant answers to everything instead of thinking about a problem and solving it.
the core “problem” isnt map design, but tank strength, obv strong tanks are more dangerous to infantry, even in bottlenecked maps like berlin its easy to dominate a game if you can just hold a single angle. Wilhelmstraße is the possible most closed map in the game, especially the first and last 2 objectives, for tanks, and a single big HE shell can easily wipe 2 squads as long as a tanker positions himself well.
—> dont mix up different factors. if you would put br2 tanks in berlin they would be much less effective than br 5 tanks. its not the maps fault if tanks become so strong that they are dangerous on any tank.
also the historical accuracy aspect for most moscow map isnt there in the first place, as fortified district, quarry, kamenka river and many other are generic places that could be anywhere in eastern/central europe and not just soviet russia, so they are per definition generic 1939-1944 maps = all BRs.
In fact, maps tied to BRs is one of the last bits of common sense in this mayhem.
Flying an IL-2 over Berlin might not be 100% historically accurate but at least it doesn’t break the time and space continuity like Tiger 2 in Tunisia would.
In fact, Stalingrad and Rzhev must be freed from high BR slavery as soon as possible instead.
If you want to have the “haha look IS-2 and RPD in Moscow” CoD Vanguard kind of “fun”, you can have it in custom games with the like-minded.
Does DF really listen to its customers? If they do, they don’t seem to react to what their customer players want, they think they know better then the people who are actually playing the game. In my many years of management, the saying was “the customer is always right”. Keep the customer happy and they will keep coming back, make them unhappy they will move on.
DF should try to satisfy everyone. Therefore should let players to CHOOSE. If someone wants to play RELATIVELY historicaly accurate game, let him to choose the frontline and BR (single or more). Make some hints/presets of historicaly accurate combinations of BRs+frontlines( like finaly make Stalingrad only up to br3 etc.).It would be back for the old campaing system, what many people demand and some even stopped to play game at all, they could be back . Make also WARNINGS in large font that it can take much more time to start such a map. Give people waiting in the queue for certain selection info how many players are needed yet. Let people in that lobby to chat (also enemies). Make even a hardcore possiblity to choose not to play with bots at all (wondering how much time it could take to wait for such a game?)
On the contrary let others to play all BRs/ all maps.
