The balance is the berlin campaign is utterly atrocious. Can we at least get an ETA on some balancing passes? Hopefully before every single german player leaves the campaign?
The WR is so bad I see better equipped Russians in every single match. I’ve seen FG42s maybe twice in all that I’ve played with DPMs and PPSH41s being fairly common.
I play less matches as Russia yet I’ve almost Caught up to my campaign progress as Germany.
For some reason the forum isn’t allowing me to upload my russian stats. Spoiler: it’s mostly wins.
The problem is with over powered ally guns. Every american gun over except the early rifles is broken. The M3 can kill a person with a single bullet to the chest while you have to pelt enemies to death with the MP 34 or FNAB.
I play Axis Normandy till level 29 but I won’t even bother touching Axis Berlin for even a single game. For me, it’s not worth grinding the same weapons twice with extra suffering sauce. I already have FG-42, MG42, MG34, Beretta M38, etc on Normandy so I never thought about playing Axis Berlin. I also heard Darklow is going to add the Panther, MP43/1, and other late Axis weaponry to Normandy so it really turns me off to play Axis Berlin.

My theory why it’s happening:
People leave Berlin campaign or jump on soviet side as soon as they see how unbalanced it is for axis at the start. And only more new level 1 players and newbs jump in just to discover that soviet side is so much powerful equipment wise. And so they leave, because no one likes the constant humiliation so rarely who will play till axis level 8-9 when better stuff unlocks but soviet side had better stuff already from beginning. And then more & more axis newbs join in with their bolt-action volksturm squads and Pz4’s and soon quit while soviets have ranked up to PPsh and DP-27’s. It’s neverending circle.
TLDR;There just isn’t enough high-level axis players in Berlin to win more games.
*But i’m also playing on Eastern-Europe servers so that could be explanation why soviet side is more popular and have much higher concentration of high level players.
I have finished the Normandy Campaign for both allies and germans, and I am currently in the berlin campaign at lvl 23 for both the sovjets and the germans - and I can tell you: You are absolutely right.
I am leaving the germans at that for now until I know there will be anything worth grinding for in the berlin campaign.
I might advance with the sovjets, just whenever I really need a break from thinking too much and just want to go on a braindead point and click adventure with my PPD40 or PPSh.
Until germany gets propper guns and not jokes like the VG1-5 (while sovjets get PPD40) I am done with germany on berlin.

But seriously, having unlocked the vg made me sad: it meant a bit less chance to get weapons I want from bronze orders. It’s simply not able to compete vs other german smgs. I find even the first, veeery bad german smg to me more useful than the vg. It’s nothing more than a weapon to be used as a secondary. Heck, a regular trooper with the relatively good, but soon unlocked g43 will be better than an assaulter equiped with the vg…
Meanwhile, even with all of this, I see ppl whine about the fg42 being available for germany… Any opposition or challenge must be blasphemy, eh 🤷
Well I do have to say I prefer the FG42 over the AVS 36, but FG42 vs. AVS36 is like TIE Fighter vs. X Wing

Well, last days Reich were pretty unbalanced, but I see your point. One thing that people don’t realize about the Berlin campaign that it is who can put bigger(not necessarily better equipped) squads win the game. So yes, the Campaign rewards for Germany are terrible; I agree with you.
I enjoy the challenge, but the incentive is not there. I am primarily Panzer 4 J enjoyer, but I like sniping. That is another thing. Enlisted soldiers are pretty good at climbing to the ridiculous spots on Berlin Campaign. You can hold the choke points rather well, and this is where the body count comes in. You play lonely wolf while you send your squad to protect the objective.
I just tried another battle in the berlin campaign to see if the piece of shit they try to sell us as the equivalent to the PPD40 (namely the VG1-5) would count towards kills with SMG (since it clearly is not an SMG) but I couldnt. It was Conquer on the trainstation and within 5 min. they had all caps and spawncamped us.
Silly me for even attempting a foolish thing like that…
Pfff… Joining germany in berlin… hahahahah
