Like parashutes you should be able to get back on to the battlefield if you managed to emergency land like i did here. On sea how ever i can understand that youre getting lost 
Was pretty surprised i survived it since the engine got cut off on high speed ^^

since the first time i played this game, i only managed to land once, repair the plane and take off again.
its kinda hard to find a spot to do so… on the other hand, heroes and generals had a landing/takeoff system way more simple and prety much all maps had some place to do so (befor 3000 rocks per square foot)
