It would be really cool to be able to play this historic last big effort by the germans to turn the tide in the west
Yeah. Could be nice to have maps from it in Normandy.
I don’t think either of you actually know where the battle of the bulge is in comparison to Normandy
Since stalingrad was put out and it’s very close to Moscow, having BoTB being a thing isn’t far off now
I think he just means that it’d be better to merge it all into one late-war Western Front
Yeah that’s not happening because then you get tiger 2s, jumbo bitches would cry then
oh, I know it happened far away from Normandy and a lot later, but fact is, the equipment and factions involved are completely the same, so it would be worth merging them to add more content to ‘Normandy’.
Tiger 2s were used in Normandy as well. It was their first time seeing combat. So they’re getting added regardles.
They already cry about panthers and Panthers struggle to kill them
And?
Gaijin will just ignore them.
Besides, there’s more tanks like the comet that could be added to counter it.
Do you know the comet can’t frontally penetrate the tiger 2 and even if you were talking about the APDS, that didn’t even enter service until ww2 had ended
APDS can, and I found it saw service at the end of the operations in Normandy.
Just add a spalling mechanic and slap them with HE, God knows german steel quality was shit by the time the Tiger 2 was being produced
A, APDS was post war because it was developed for the 17pdr which the 77mm is derived from
B, the APDS was extremely inaccurate in its 17pdr and 77mm form and wouldn’t really improve until the 20pdr replaced it
C, German steel quality was not actually the issue late war, it was quantity of steel and rare material like chromium at no point did German steel start to just fail like the t-34s ammo had early on
D, you’re not causing a tank with 150mms+ of armour to spall with any serious damage with anything less than a 105mm maybe a 90, if you were using HESH sure but that was a very late invention, definitely post ww2.
E, there’s way more fun vehicles to add like the churchill avre variants, sherman calliope and the tiger 1 Porsche
It was actually made and used during WWII and here is a source for your amusement
Shales, Julian. “WW2 People’s War - Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot”. BBC. BBC. Retrieved 10 December 2021
Armour-piercing discarding sabot (APDS)
“Armour-piercing discarding sabot could penetrate 256 mm of armour at 500 m and 233 mm at 1000 m,[8][note 3] and allowing it in theory to penetrate the armour of even the German Tiger II heavy tank. Most sources are in agreement that APDS was not available on D-Day itself, but reached Normandy in increasing amounts by the end of June or early July 1944. It was available for the breakout battle from Normandy and the advance to the Netherlands and Germany. The weight of the enclosed shot, excluding the enclosing sabot, was 7.7 lb (3.5 kg).”

You can find more yourself.
It was inaccurate at long ranges. But those don’t exist in Enlisted. Since it’s effective range was around 400m, there should be no problems.
It was mediocre at best. As most german designs, the steel was also very good on paper, but not very good in practice, this time though it was due to a lack of resources like said chromium.

Do you know how spalling works? More/thicker armour only makes spalling worse, given the round penetrates, as there’s more that can spall. Sure, solid AP wasn’t amazing at spalling, but it would still disable a tank in a penetrating hit. And while this wouldn’t be the case in Enlisted, it should still do a decent amount of damage. 1-3 shots should kill it depending on where you hit.
Some of these could be cool, but adding prototypes is not. This isn’t WOT.
Also, if the Tiger 2 added was the P version, it could be pened by american 76mm.
to be fair, Tiger II with the weak turret was already in berlin beta/alpha, and since that one only has 100mm of armour It wont be OP at all. basically a slow big target that has a great gun.
Also first Tiger IIs were even used in Normandy, so we might see them as well : )
A, none of the vehicles i said were prototypes, the avres were standard and the calliope was actually designed and not thrown together in a shed, the t28 is a prototype as only 2 were made
B, i said TIGER 1 PORSCHE not 2, 1, the one with 200mm of frontal armour and angled corners which became the base for the Ferdinand
C, spalling is worse when you have thicker armour if you get hit with HESH , the actual chances of HE dislodging spalling in a tiger 2 is basically 0 you’re more likely to jam the turret ring than spall it
The Tiger 1 Porshe is a Prototype.
Yes, and it is what I’m reffering to with the prototype thing. The Tiger 2 P was my own idea.
It’s worse with every round. Not just specific to Hesh. All penetrators, kinetic or chemical, spall better with thicker armour (if they penetrate). And I¨m not talking about HE at all. I was talking about AP and APDS spalling in perticular.
