After playing for some time, I decided to give some feedback on the current Battle of Berlin event
Let’s begin:
1. Pros
Atmosphere is very beautiful.
A lot of maps are nice to play on. Some of them have almost no meatgrinder compared to other campaigns.
I love the distant screaming of Soviet soldiers. Looks like actual war.
Bayonets are very useful on short range.
Uniforms are good looking but German soldiers need some reworking
I love the Reichstag map with 5 capture points
I’m a big fan of last ditch weapons and I love using them in Berlin
Last ditch K98 is very fun to use and compared to the regular K98, the Kriegsmodell performs much more realistically (doesn’t have that super-human rate of fire), sights are correct and I don’t have to look at that annoying black colour (pre war modell and war time modell need to switch skins)
I love using the MP-3008. I’m so happy this thing was added
2. Cons and Bugs
During the battle of Berlin, luftwaffe was almost non-existent but in Enlisted, Germans get air superiority by having better bombers than Soviets. A lot of Soviet players refuse to use planes because of that.
I love using the M30 luftwaffe but I don’t like the full shotgun squad. Luftwaffe drilling has better accuracy than TOZ-B and Winchester 1912 so in urban fight this shotgun is extremely powerful and I’m okay with one squad member being armed with this gun but having a full shotgun squad in Berlin is too much.
DM-29 was harder to fire on the move compared to the DP-27 but in Enlisted this gun is a straight upgrade to the DP-27. There should be a trade-off
Using bayonets can be clumsy, if I spam the button for using bayonets, my soldiers sometimes draws his knife instead of using the bayonet. Why give knife to a solder that already has a bayonet???
T-34/85 seems to be more vulnerable to explosion packs than Puma and BT-7 despite being much heavily armoured. Once I threw an explosion Pack on it and the explosion Pack landed 2 meters away from the tank and still managed to blow it up. This is just proof that TNT packs are bugged and should be replaced by Molotovs for taking down tanks
Lastly the Panther G. I don’t use this tank because using it feels like cheating. This tank seems to be completely immune to explosion packs despite having weaker side armour than t-34. I also sometimes struggle penetrating the side turret armour with my 85mm gun, armour modell for this tank is bugged so much. HE is weak though.
I always knew panther is going to be stronger than t-34 and I was happy about it because I love asymmetrical balance but currently, Panther is just too much bugged and and the opposing team doesn’t have a certain weapon that can take out superior enemy tanks
My idea number 1 is to give German teams better tanks but remove or limit the use of Luftwaffe
My idea number 2 is to keep the Luftwaffe but give Russian teams the ability to use 1 more tank than Germans
The panther is pretty trash though. I’ve deleted dozens of them with the T-34-85 by smashing a shell through their turret and blowing them up.
As for the side armor, never had any problems penetrating the side armor, this sounds a lot like you’re aiming either at extreme angles or you’re shooting at an empty part of the tank.
Really nothing about the piss poor objective placements, lack of static cover to hide behind, and narrow playing area? This campaign could be phenomenal, but what I’ve listed needs to be addressed. Not just in Berlin, but all campaigns offered in Enlisted.
I always have no trouble taking cover and there is always a way to take cover on pretty much every map
In my opinion the only map that lacks cover is D-day for allied team but on that map you aren’t even supposed to find a lot of cover… it’s d-day after all
Well I also have to disagree. There is very little cover that you can hide behind (not talking about houses or terrain) because most of the objects are destructible. The devs should add more cover that can’t be destroyed.
I mean why not talk about houses and terrain since that is the majority of covers you will find in the game. Not only does almost every map have a lot of houses, craters and hills but you also get trees, tank wrecks, prebuilt sandbags, walls, fences, bushes, barrels, you can even build your own with an engineer. Sure some of those are destructible but I’ve never in my 250 hours seen a place so destroyed that I found no cover to hide behind.
tbh I feel like the panther is suffering from the same stuff the T-34 does. At least from my experience I’ve never seen a tank survive more then 10 seconds in the berlin campaign be it the panther or the T-34. Every time a T-34 drives by me I see it explode seconds after but the very same goes for the Panther as well. I think it’s a shared problems that these tanks just feel like paper models. Tho I did hear people say that the T-34 is weaker in a tank vs tank combat but my point is that I rarely see that since infantry takes care of both.
Houses and ground terrain are the majority of “viable” cover because that’s all there is. I’m not asking for a whole lot. Just a few more destroyed tanks and other vehicles here and there, maybe a couple of sheds (destructible) but it would be something.
But that’s my point, there is plenty of that. I guess we’ll have to agree that we disagree but from my perspective there is never more then 5 meters without a cover. If I don’t run through the battlefield like a dumbass I can always find a place to hide. Never had this problem…
I really don’t feel like we’re playing the same game here. Just about every time I spawn, there’s at least a quarter mile of near flat terrain which someone is already aiming down. Perhaps the AI need to be tweaked more to account for distance, grass height, and other obstacles. Enlisted’s map layouts look appealing but are abysmal for gameplay unless you know how to camp with LMG’s and Snipers (for the most part).
Most importantly, Darkflow needs to stop throwing maps designed for LINEAR game modes into shit like Conquest. It doesn’t work, not even DICE could manage it with Domination. Which is literally what Conquest in Enlisted is, but with vehicles.
I’ve never had a problem with finding cover. Its literally everywhere on every map. Bots won’t even shoot at you past roughly 75 meters unless you shoot at them first.
Damn, I’ll have to try the game you’re playing. It sounds much less frustrating than Enlisted. Cause I’m spawning in and watching several of my AI squad members get cut down immediately.
They’re not supposed to, but they do anyways. I think everyone here can agree that the AI is still broken and inconsistent.
There are actually some areas with more open field combat but that’s actually quite interesting because players need to hide behind tanks and use snipers to take out enemy machine gunners. It’s basically what we as a community wanted, more open maps
Yeah I really do like the new maps and small changes they’ve made to the berlin map. It is still probably the most interesting map in game. Just really wish they would optimize it a bit better so I don’t have to lower settings to play on it smoothly
You posted a screenshot of the one map in Enlisted which offers a good amount of cover, lol. I’m referring to many of the maps outside of the Berlin, although I should’ve clarified earlier.
