Battle hero awards

just now had battle where best engineer went to player with 0 built structures, while i had 1-2 engineer building rally points and other structures.

it is absolutely stupid to give award for best engineer to player who used engineer to get most kills/xp without building even one structure.
same would be for other classes. best radioman should be the one who kills most people with arty fire (btw need to fix the bug where those kills go to currently selected player and not radio man) and best AT gunner needs to be the one with most tank kills. in case everyone has same structure xp/arty kills/tank kills then it should give the award to the one with most xp/kills

Radio man is just the messenger, the real people deserve those kill are the one who give the coordinates(calling arty on map).
But the radio guy can have some assist score.

well we dont have concept of officers, so radio man should get the kills…

Don’t need officer, the guy who give the radio guy coordinate should get the kill.

it is pointless argument cause game. my argument is purely that radioman is calling arty strikes, so he should get the kills. no radio man=no arty strike=no kills.

My argument is radio man is a walking radio, it is just a tool human. When you are shooting enemy, is the user gets the kill or the gun gets the kill? No coordinates=no arty strike=no kills.

user is selecting coordinates and not some AI or particular soldier. radio man has his job and radio is his weapon. so considering your logic, when i mark the spot for plane should i get the kill, cause no coordinates, no kill?

btw i dont remember if selected soldier at the time of calling arty strike gets the kill, or currently selected soldier at the time of the arty strike gets the kill.

Different situation, since there is no artillery operator in this game so the kill cannot give to person that fires the weapon(artillery). If you compare it to plane the radio man and his radio is only the mark itself, the soldier who give radio guy coordinates is the people who marks, the plane is the artillery operator.

Current situation is what I said, the people who give the coordinates get the kill.

then what is the point of the best radio man award? we should just remove it cause all credit should go to assaulter, rifleman or flamethrower that was currently selected when radio man called in arty.

for game logic purpose if you have radio man and only he can call in radio strikes, then all kills should go to him. what we have now is just easier way to select coordinates without having to switch to radio man. you could have million coordinates, but if you dont have radio man, you simply cant call arty strike.

Lol I played a match the other day where I had 26 engineer points and the person that got “Best Engineer” had only 1 engineer point.

that is the point. for specialized classes to get awards for their specialization, not for total amount for xp/kills.

btw best fighter should be the one who killed most planes, best flamethrower the one who killed most people with flame etc.

You can call it when you are a radioman. Besides that, all best soldier award are not according to how well it performs with their main function, so there is no question of the point of best radio man.
If you really want to change it you can change the criteria to most people kill with by the arty that was transmit by him. But the kill still belong to the coordinate provider.

If you are a author and have a book to be publish, and there is only one publisher. Does it mean that the publisher gets all the credit for the book you write? You could have million books, but if you dont have publisher, you simply cant publish book.

and that is why i made this topic. for soldiers to get award based on their specialization. best engineer is not the one who killed 50 people, but the one who got most structure xp. you may put him as best soldier, but not as best engineer. so following that logic all other specializations should be rewarded for their special abilities.

also calling artillery strike demands specialized training and equipment and you expect me to believe that every soldier in ww2 had training and equipment to give out coordinates for artillery? from game logic radio man is actually FOO and that is why he needs to get kills.

What is this?

Forward Observation Officer

More like a Radio Telephone Operators (RTO).

considering you needed specialized officer to actually call arty strike, radio man can be RTO and FOO at the same time for game purpose, cause any squad unlocks ability to call arty strikes with radio man.

Ok but how do you get an engineer score of 1? By building a random piece of barbwire in a hallway that does nothing to contribute to a win?

i would rather use engineer xp. so you get 3xp for building barbwire and IIRC 5xp for actual damage on that barbwire, you get 3xp for rally point+ 30xp every time someone spawns. and i dont remember how much it was for ally resupply on your ammo box (15xp?). so not only number of structures matter, but their usefulness matter more.
