Ppl were complaining it was anit-skill.
In a game about shooting at bots, at bots!
ahem
No
??
Seems unnecessary to make tanks slightly worse, especially with how easy it is to destroy them.
giving people the chance to fight back after making a mistake (getting hit) is anti skill.
True, if we consider the upcoming merge. But since we today have a range of tanks (from low BR to high BR) it would be interesting.
Since this suggestion more affect tank vs tank gameplay more than anything
That’s why only some tanks would have it.
This would for example allow to place early T-34 (with bad armor) slightly lower in the upcoming BR system.
i feel like that it should only really apply to the tanks that had historically shitty steel quality control but wehrs and slav will reee at it so it won’t happen
I mean if T34 and IS2 gets one shotted by non penetration 50mm+ due internal spalling then yeah sounds funny
Though the gimmic is irrelevant since Panzerfaust exist, also there is many way to destroy them
I would prefer to see a system where armour starts to deteriorate and lose integrity after repeated hits.
Since we are down this path, I’d like:
bad aim trait
Vodka booster for granade throwing
Wet pants trait. For fire damage reduction
Aquaman trait for fast swimming
Just a flesh wound trait for surviving melee blows
Golden finger trait to allow pilots to find their target at the exact location…
In reality we’ll get T-34 to be penetrated by touch of a finger, while King Tiger would remain just the same. While 34 faces tanks from the future where it ought to dominate - KT is just the best tank of the game and even if it faced tanks from nearest future they are using just the same guns we already have.
(otherwise i might have had supported such randomisation of damage, but it should never be first or second hit, but maybe 10+ if we speak of 37 mm on T-34 (should be much less if its 122 vs KT), and we’d better get rid of this arcade lameass red-yellow-green penetration possibility cheat, to make this randomisation idea make sense)
H&G tanks: I see…
Late war german armour was exceptionally prone to shattering and spalling due to them running out of manganese to use in armor, it would make late war german tanks very easy to destroy.
This pile of steel used to be a Tiger II until it got hit by a 122mm HE shell to the front plate.
This is also the reason why the soviets never got around to adopt the 100mm D-10 for use in their heavy tanks, the ones they had were geting more and more effective due to the worsening quality of axis tank armor.
Early T-34 variants also had bad welding and overly hardended armor, which would result in big losses early in the war.
I dont see this mechanic coming to the game as every weapon is represented in its best itteration and without flaws.
this will mainly define spamming meta. just spit till enemy breaks down or something. i think it’s too difficult for such “reelistic” game. can we at least have working high explosives no?
Yeah, like T-34s and KT’s especially
In a similar note, I’d like to see more options with upgrading tanks rather than the small, linear ranking system they have now and maybe allow players to modify their tanks to be more oriented around firepower, maneuverability, or armor. Think similar to how squad classes allow you to pick 1 of 3 options in a certain skill and choosing one locks the others.
This would also instead of having a trait like you described (which arbitrarily reduces the armor of an enemy tank based on specific matchups through a micro-RNG calculation) would rather increase your overall penetration power by having more precision parts, perhaps better AP rounds, etc. and choosing those skills comes at the cost of less armor, maneuverability or anti-infantry capability.
Also I don’t know if this is already a thing or not, but perhaps the heavier tanks could cost more tickets than lighter tanks to help offset armor disparities.
This issue was worth exploring with asymmetrical balance and the campaign system. With the BR system, I don’t really see a point.
I experienced it…
The weapon jamming
And was one of the few (i guess?) that would smile everytime it happened. Im sure gamers found it annoying but me and my mates who grew up shooting couldnt help but love it.
Dealing with a misfeed, a double feed or a failed ejection is second nature.
I was sad when it was removed. (And it barely slowed you down, the first time it happened i wasnt really sure it was real…i was like, did that just jam?)
