I can have 3 normal grenades or 6 rifle grenades that I can lob across half of the map.

Reazons.
When there is a ADHD guy with SMG that bunny hops, drop shots and do other shit, and I manage to shoot him with probably the slowest weapon in game, I have a warm feeling in my hart.
It’s just so damn satysfying to use.
Also, as I’ve already said, we should have such option, even if it won’t be used. For the sake of variety. Not everything we add to the game must be meta.

You can get 3 grenades if you put another rifle with a grenade launcher in the second slot.
This is an extremely useful thing.
It is very convenient to shoot at a large number of enemys or at dark windows, where anyone looks like a Negro in a coal mine.

Why would I waste a backpack slot?
With your idea all my lvl x troopers won’t have acces to backpack.
With my idea you still will have more ammo but other soldiers can carry medkits or grenades.
