Backpack Options, Large vs Small, viability change

Currently, backpack options are separated into the 3 categories (Backpack, Grenade Pouch, Ammo Pouch)
and the size of the pack is really only tied to what the player has available at that time.

  • Its not effected by BR
  • Other than capacity, there are no discernable differences, like perhaps weight or something.

So it begs the question:
WHY would someone hold onto or use small backpack options once they have access to the larger ones?

Suggestion:

Allow players to equip either the one large backpack, OR 2 small ones of DIFFERNT types.

This would allow much more versatility in loadouts. Allowing players either a mix of functions or all toward just one.

Examples:

  • 1x S. Grenade Pouch + 1x S. Backpack = An extra grenade and an extra medkit.

  • 1x S. Ammo Pouch + 1x S. Backpack = An extra mag and an extra medkit.

  • 1x S. Grenade Pouch + 1x S. Ammo Pouch = An extra mag and an extra grenade.

In comparison to the existing large counterparts:

  • 1x L. Grenade Pouch = 2 extra grenades

  • 1 x L. Ammo Pouch = Double ammo Capacity

  • 1 x L. Backpack = 4 medkits/ toolkits

Additionally, I would add that Small Ammo Pouch to add at least 50% more ammo, because even with this change it would be useless. Right now, for example with a rifle, by default you get 25 rounds, with Large you have an extra 25 for a total of 50, but with Small you only get a measly 5 extra rounds for a total of 30.

That’s good and all but maybe we should have intermediate slot as well as the backpack slot so we can attach pouches instead of just a backpack.

The thing about the small ammo pouch is that on certain weapons, +1 mag is perfect for balancing.
Look at the PPSH and M1919A6 for examples.

PPSH has a standard capacity of 71 rounds per mag, 2 mags are carried.
A small ammo pouch gives 1 mag, but its overall a 50% increase to capacity.
Meanwhile, the LARGE ammo pouch gives +100%, which is ultimately 2 mags for it.

The M1919A6 (and other High capacity MGs) are the same.
100 rounds/ mag
2 mags standard
3 mags with small pouch
4 mags with large pouch

The ammo pouches, especially the small ones, aren’t really intended for rifle usage. They are more for weapons with high ammunition capacity.

In the case of rifle usage, I recommend just using an engineer to set up an ammo box nearby.

Yeah, but it doesn’t make sense for it to be just 10%, it unnecessarily favours big mag weapons, while the small one loose out. Being 50% would be more in line with other pouches.
