Awoke a Sleeping Giant - Manila, Iwo Jima 1945 Campaign

Oh because this is a for profit video game, and without profit it dies. Kinda simple

Why do people who like a game want it do die?? good question.

Its also before all 4 nation trees were really fleshed out.
At this point the game has enough content to research/ play that f2p players can continue to get content but not pay a cent, but monetisable players should be incentivised to get the content

Lowering price of packs would make them more accessible but they have gamer economists who figure this detail out anyhow.

Basically im designing the premium packs for all the campaign concepts as something I would absolutely want to pay for, with good flavor behind it.

For example BR2 soviet razvedka riflemen with captured Jap swords for Khalkin Gol campaign, or here with radio squads that call their own specialized bomber strike (more flavor & reused WT model so lower dev cost) etc etc

DF have already clearly shown how their greed is detrimental to this game’s success with the whole Steam release debacle. They don’t actually need more profits - they make more than enough money, but are deliberately doing the absolute minimum in development they can get away with to just keep things dragging on for as long as possible to grab as much cash as possible with as little in return as possible.
But people like you enthusiastically support this blatant exploitation. Just like IRL - people are willing to do anything to get a pat on the head from their evil capitalist masters, and are willing to sell out their fellow consumers and make life as unpleasant as possible for everyone just for a minor boost to their pathetic ego and desire for validation.

Aok clearly a f2p mentality, and honestly nothing wrong with that. Game needs all types of players to succeed.

Ill absolutely disagree about the part where the gaming company that doesnt have the dev time to even have a proper steam release has enough resources; Its kind of self evident what the situation is.

Its almost painful knowing (and being shown) how much cool stuff could be in Enlisted.

Nice toys, as always mate nice post

(But pe 8 lolol? The most broken heavy bomber in warthunder, flies like a fighter lol. Troll fun though)

Remember bombers have artificially nerfed bomb loads in Enlsited, were talking 100kgs still but bomb drop tonnage is identical. Speed and defensive armament are supposed to offer more challenge to BR5 interceptors than current clean up of medium bombers allows. Offset to only having 3 planes

Basically bringing a little more flavor, variety and interest to typically useless bombing runs.

Oh hey, I love flying all this stuff haha. Flavour I would fully appreciate, even if the maps are too small

I can just imagine the death star Gunship the PE-8 would be in enlisted though

So much fun to fly in warthunder but you sort of have to question the flight model. B17s, lancasters, # insert heavy bomber here, are all stiff and sluggish. This thing is crazy responsive lol.

B17s and Lancasters dont get a good go in warthunder anymore. The only thing that bumped the Lancaster Up to usable status was the 12000LB bomb.

Maybe they would be interesting in enlisted?

I dont know what it is about the HE 117 but its just one I really like and have flown alot. It just looks right

also another Fun gunship :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah the idea is to give / keep fighter plane players happy; engaged. 3 heavily defended bombers flying over present a boss like challenge, currently the 5 bomber medium swarm just gets blasted by any T4/5 fighter plane without worry, I figure multiple 50cals/ 20mms should be more of a challenge.

Also thought about bringing in guided bombs as either a player choice or a sniper/raider class call in on a position (1 bomber shows up and releases a Fritz X etc) but I think that brings too much PGM situation in a WW2 game, and these were used against strategic targets anyhow - while heavy bombers did see some battlefield support usage in war.

Edit: @IceySmooth, you missed a portrait opportunity with the general leading the Filipino resistance. His name was Wendell Fertig, and this was him during his time in the Philippines:

Also, is Burma going to be next? I think you would enjoy looking into Merrill’s Marauders. Also, it seems Punji traps were used a lot over there, according to US documents.

I Really have to say that I like a lot of this;

As for the Philippines:

I’d have two variations 1941-42 and 1944-45;

What about coinciding whatever future anticipated “steam release:for real this time” with an event accessible/tailored to new players? Say Philippines 1941-42; Perhaps coinciding with a Redo of a Barbrossa 1941 event as well? It’s all well and good to get late war equipment obiviously but they’d be best off starting at the beginning of the pacific war;

I think having the maps be somewhat modular (with things being designed to be swappable like buildings, parts of roads or bridges/emplacements, even maybe like “groves of trees” or bushes that the japanese might’ve either let wither, become overgrown, or cut down for war material / anti-guerilla reasons)… Need to mess with the editor again it’s been a while.

As for Iwo Jima

I would make Iwo Jima as not so much part of the phillippines so much as either coincinding with Okinawa or being “it’s own event”; mostly because the philippines was fairly cut off from supply by the mainland by october of 44.

I really like the MG15 being there with the Stinger, that really “works” in my book because they’re the same thing (except the stinger is heavier and much more “slapped together”)

all in all I really like this Suggestion, I hope you don’t interpret any critique as being rude

the big problem with war thunder is they won’t implement EC for RB, which would frankly fix a whole heck of a lot of issues with the gameplay of that game; even if it were a weekend only thing, just having that might bring me back because I wouldn’t feel like shit for fliyng my Il-10 in Air Rb; (Sim is too demanding hardware wise (flight sticks, Headtracking, etc, expensive)

Oh absolutely not, these concepts are here for the community to bounce ideas off of. Constructive criticism is 200% welcome!

Re maps - the reason Manila and Iwo Jima are here together several;

  1. 1945 late war campagin, both events late
  2. Urban warfare map for Japan
  3. Could have focused exclusively on Philipines but were still trying to appeal to average WW2 enjoyer and Iwo Jima/ Okinawa are strong in American & Japanese military history.
  4. 45 concept allowed for high BR focus on vehicles/ weapons since both nations could use a little more power here.

I do agree with several people here Philippines could deff be explored in a separate min-campaign potentially.

I did this in the old days
