Historically, yes. And while Iām all for more historical accuracy, itās worth acknowledging when that would lead to imbalances that would negatively impact gameplay.
If one side gets autorifles for all infantry, the other side is at an inarguable disadvantage. Wouldnāt be as big a problem if we still had closed alpha reliability/jam mechanics.
If we want full historical accuracy, the AVS/AVT should be rifelman weapons, but be horribly unreliable, same with the G41, and slightly less so the G43. The MKB42(h) should be an infantry weapon, but incredibly restricted because of the low numbers of prototypes dropped into the Kholm Pocket (their only use in the moscow campaign.) The PPSh 41 and MP40 should be infantry weapons, ETC. Thereās a fine line to walk between history and balance.
And another problem with the Autorifles I just though of: Theyāre unlocked with rifle squads. How do you balance those engineer/radio squads?
Also, adding jams would be nice.
Iāve never understood why every new squad has to come with a new weapon. Itās nonsense.
Frontline infantry should come with a campaign appropriate infantry rifle. M91/30, K98k, (normandy is weird with their m1903, could have just used the Lee No. 4), etc. Back line and support troops should unlock second-line or alternate standard weapons, like the 1895 winchester. Assault squads are fine unlocking SMGs/Shotguns, Iād add autorifles to their list.
Only because of RoF and capacity. My point was, the 1903 as a starter rifle for US in WW2 is pure nonsense, at least in Europe. Lee 4 was my only real suggestion for a bolt action replacement that makes historical sense, but you make a good point.
Not if theyāre restricted to assaulters, you couldnāt, and at least for soviets, thereās already not a lot of reason to use other squads. 7 man assault squads loaded up with drum PPSh and AVS is allready too good. Restrict the AVS to assaulters, and youāre forcing a choice between the PPSh and AVS, and elminating full-squad autoweapon spam.
Iāll ask you a question: How useless do you want early german tanks to be?
I could care less about what the germans get to counter it, itās not balancable with whatās availible early on.
Upgunned marder would already be justifiable now instead of the panzer3B, but Iām not sure if itās historically feasible. And I donāt want another sturmgewehr as an assaulter weapon. The sniper mkb is fine, but please no more.
I donāt have an answer, itās why Iām a bit discouraged. On one hand, man I love the KV and crave it.
On the other hand, it would be the jumbo fiasco all over again but in Moscowā¦
The problem with that is that all the units their are American thuse not having Enfield as the only US troops to use them were serving with the brits in Burma. On June 7th the 2nd Infantry Division landed on Omaha mainly equipped with the 1903A3 version
My guess it that DF either planned to introduce Commonwealth Units too (They are already ingame but only as premium ones (Firefly and Churchill)) or needed Commonwealth guns to increase the grind for US forces like Ital Ital guns do it for the Germans.
