Automatic Spam is the effect: We know the cause

Many people in the forum have complaints about players spamming automatic weapons(SMG, LMG, SF).
Giving SF to every trooper is too much. I hope the developers find a good way to restrict its use without making things too complicated(class restriction seems optimal).

However, I don’t want the developers to punish(restrict) players from spamming SMGs and LMGs.

We know why people spam these weapons: SMGs and LMGs are good at CQC + win CQC=win games.
Players are just adapting to the game, creating the meta called automatic spam. Why should they be punished directly for that?

The environment must change to motivate players to use squads other than LMG/SMG squads(or encourage them to use the weapons in a different, yet effective way).
Then players will adapt to the game, using more diverse weapons and strategies.
Here are three main things I thought of. Feel free to add to the list.

  1. wider maps, wider capture zones, bigger teams
  2. AI improvement
  3. Making bipods easier to use

-Wider maps → flanking, more long range combat,
-Wider capture zones(ex. including two buildings in a capture zone)–> making weapons such as bolt-action and semi-automatic rifles more useful when inside the capture point.
-Bigger teams → wider maps requires bigger teams.
-AI improvement(premade positions in buildings is a good example)
→ Players tend to increase the firepower per soldier because the AI soldiers are so ineffective in combat.
-Improving bipods → making LMGs useful in long-range combat, serving its original purpose.
Reading the rest is optional

We like Enlisted for different reasons(historical accuracy, AI squad system, satisfaction from using high-level stuff, etc). I like Enlisted because it is an interesting FPS game that I can play(30 fps is enough) with my PC. We might have different thoughts about the future of Enlisted. We might have arguments about a lot of stuff. That’s fine(however, toxic keyboard battles are not fine).
Let’s keep making good suggestions. Let’s respect the developers and each other, so that we can play a fun game and make a healthy community. Long Live Enlisted!

Wrong section. Moved.

I dont know. Back in the early days of OBT, Moscow. It was so fun to fight with BAs in objectives, because everyone would have them. It was really immersive and was brutal CQC.

Sadly nowadays an entire room is cleared by an SMG or a SF

Meta moved on

I think the imbalance is moresoe from the fact that you can rotate multiple squads of the same type.
Why use BAs and SAs when you can loop in 3 SMG squads and 2 LMG squads.
Winning vs fun and engaging is what the game fosters, and RoF wins matches.

I miss Moscow of the early days myself.
It was the campaign that my wife and I played the most because you could have slow and fun gameplay with squads upon squads of BA troops.
The Automatic Meta makes the gameplay faster.
If they first changed how we cycle squads , it would be the first step to getting this back to a slower and more methodical game.

This is basically a perfect résumé of all the good suggestions came out in the forum. We all hope in some day all these suggestion will be implemented in game.

Very well written first of all.

I don’t like the idea of limiting certain weapons with arbitrary restrictions (such as 2 of x weapon per squad); and while I don’t particularly like limits on squads in lineup, I think it would help in “auto spam”.
So maybe “only one squad per type” would help, particularly the Assaulters on Moscow.

Ultimately though, I would prefer balance though pros and cons. Make it so that Bolt-Action rifles and Semi-auto rifles are more appealing. Make them have more damage so that they do more one hit kills (instead of just downing them.) I think bigger maps could help with this, but I don’t want to spread out the map so much that nobody plays the objective. So I think that there is a delicate balance here. Perhaps encourage players by giving much more XP and score for objectives.

Just make all bolt-action rifles kill in one shot under 100m, this was like main selling point of this game, now it’s not just gone, with vitality You can’t even down in one shot.

Anyway, back to walking off my sniper wound in chest after just being slowed for a second.

The reason why majority of the people complains about automatic weapons ( me included ) it’s because they keep nerfing everything else except automatic weapons. and make the game more " auto " friendly.

Back in the alpha and beta, automatic weapons used to be a lot much rare. And it was a good thing.
Especially since the game proclaimed to be realistic and skill based.

Which over the year this thing completely changed. Whether I like it or not, automatic meta it’s still dumb.

Not because it’s unrealistic ( which it is ) but because it’s just dumb and easy.

It creates more situation where wins whoever has the bigger mag and shoot faster.

Proposals above are all “ good “ and “ nice “.

But I don’t really see how do you think to increase sizes of the map and capture area.

No matter what, because of what I said above, automatic weapons are still dominant no matter the range, or the map or situation.

How much rare were automatics?

Were there limitations or did they not exist or most people didnt have them?

they were.

intially, were only up to 2.

than were extended to 3, then 4, then 5, and in obt, returned with 3 for some squads, and 4 for others.

but keep in mind that sf were not a thing up until obt. so that number it’s risen even more.

Tbh dispersion affected autos the most.
And or. Mgs with the small ads movement possible will make. Bullets fly everywhere.

Stating that autos weren’t nerfed yet isn’t true.
