Automatic colorway-biome links for everything!

Enlisted’s campaigns were merged into research trees in December 2023.

If we assume that the Merge was reportedly prepared for ~1 year (2022) before that, how is it possible that by 2025 none of these obvious issues caused by the Merge have been foreseen/adressed?

1. Tanks

Goes without saying. I used to have a yellow Pz III J in my Tunisia campaign:

And a white-washed Pz III J in my Moscow campaign:

But then you stole them from me (merged with another Pz III J) and since December 2023 I am no longer allowed to have it yellow in Tunisia and white in Moscow? wtf?

RESOLUTION:
Add a system for vehicles just like the one you have for soldiers, where every campaign gets a biome-themed default camo and additional camos can be unlocked with getting X kills/experience with certain tanks.

Yes! Not just for GOLD. Getting X kills/experience with certain tanks could incentivize people to play with less popuilar tanks: silver/ingame challenges/BP/events.

  1. Every vehicle by default should come with accurate, immersive, appropriate, historically accurate generic decals and turret numbers randomized for each vehicle in the match:
    image
    image
    image

  2. These default skins should change their base color/paintjob according to the map they’re placed on
    image
    image

Example:

Default T-34 for Moscow, Stalingrad and Rzhev maps
image

Optional “improved” skin for T-34 for Moscow, Stalingrad and Rzhev maps

A. Basic faction insignia
German tanks must have Balkenkreuz, American tanks must have white stars (Soviet tanks must not have red stars - those were mostly for parades).
And no they must not be sold for gold. They must be pre-rendered on all skins with fixed sizes and positions according to army regulations of the time, e.g.:

image

B. Basic color change according to the biome
Any and all Pz III must be dark yellow in Tunisia; grey/white in Moscow, Rzhev and Stalingrad; dark green/ambush in Normandy, Ardennes and Berlin.
These must work exactly like soldiers’ automatic clothing change, and any additionally purchased/unlocked colorway must only be applicable within the appropriate biome preset.
And no they must not be sold for gold.

image

C. Basic random turret numbers
Simple randomized turren numbers must be added to add life to generic looking tanks.
For example a German tank numbered 243 would mean 2nd company, 4th platoon, 3rd vehicle.
And no they must not be sold for gold.

2. Planes

Did no one really thought before the Merge Ju 87 in desert camo and BF 109 trop would look silly on winter maps?

images (3)

Was it really not clear that we’d need the same system as with soldiers, and as I proposed with tanks?

This looks so obvious and would allow for so many new plane skins to be added (to appropriate biome selection)!

image

3. APCs

Selling every single APC camo for GOLD without links to biome is once again NOT a solution.

image

RESOLUTION:
Every APC should automaticaly have basic biome camo switching with additional, more fancy options unlockable with silver/ingame challenges/BP/events.

4. Motorbikes

Why is my German motorbike always sandy yellow and with a palm (DAK) decal even on the Eastern Front or in the Ardennes?

How difficult is color grey/white-washed on winter maps?

image

RESOLUTION:
Bikes should automaticaly have basic biome camo switching with possible additional, more fancy options unlockable with silver/ingame challenges/BP/events.

5. AT/AA guns

These also used to be white-washed in Moscow and again you stole it from us with the Merge

images

Now we can only have one color, regardless of the map:

Why on earth was it possible to have yellow AT cannon in Tunisia before the Merge but became impossible after?

RESOLUTION:
AT/AA guns should automaticaly have basic biome camo switching.

6. Transport vehicles

Why do all Kubelwagen cars have to be grey on every map?

images (1)

Would it really be so difficult to make transport vehicles yellow for Tunisia?

image

RESOLUTION:
Transport vehicles should automaticaly have basic biome camo switching.

7. Final Thoughts

We used to have unique visuals for each campaign/map-set and the Merge stole it from us.

It’s little things like this that matter and that allow the game to look more high quality with attention to detail, that improve the player’s immersion and suspension of disbelief.

TLDR: add/return automatic colorway-biome links for everything!

@JestersTM @Marty_Hoffman @SnowieW @MajorMcDonalds @RanDagon I hope you can send feedback upstairs

i would go drop 20 dollars in camo if i could set it per campaign, its easy and free money for darkflow lol

Don’t give them ideas lol

Of course, as always, everything should be buyable with gold, but I strongly believe basic white/yellow/green camos should never cost real money.

And adding cool (historical) skins to lesser used vehicles would incentivize people to play them as well, if those could be unlocked by reaching X kills/xp with a certain vehicle.

Yes,. All week points shoukd be pink !

Automatic colorway-biome links for weapons too!

Let’s help Gaijin find which combinations make sense for a WW2 game?

You wanna be COOL, right?

Buy this COOL guy with PPS wearing an eye-patch, a fur hat and a Volkssturm armband!

Who cares that you’re going to look like a clown in Tunisia?

Everyone will know you’re COOL!

I think the devs are big fans of this children’s book. (and money, ofc)

Now onto an actual next suggestion:

Default vehicle skins depending on the map

  • Example 1: Invasion Stripes.

We have several aircraft in the game with invasion stripes which were introruced only in 1944 for Operation Overlord (Normandy landings), however in the game they also appear on pre-1944 maps such as Tunisia

It would make perfect sense if on Tunisia and Pacific maps they didn’t use these anachronistic stripes but had a more generic skin applied automatically:

image

  • Example 2: German insignia.

It goes without saying that all vehicles should have their standard national markings by default.

However, it would be even more awesome if the markings depended on the map.

Early War (1939-1943): The classic thin white outline cross (often just the white borders with a clean center). This was used extensively in France, Africa, and the early Eastern Front:

image
image

Mid-to-Late War (1943-1945): To reduce visibility and break up the shape, the cross evolved into a version with a thick black central stripe with thinner white outlines on the outside.

  • Example 3: US Vehicles “Circle-Star” in late-war campaigns.

The famous white star was sometimes confusingly similar to a German cross at long distances. To mitigate this, some units in the European Theater of Operations added a circle around the star. This was not universal regulation, but it was a very common field modification, especially from Normandy onwards and seen frequently in the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge).

So while a North Africa Sherman could look like this

For Normandy/Ardennes we could have this by default

Thank you for your attention.

I know this will 99.9% fall on deaf ears, because Gaijin prefer this kind of “fun”

But @SnowieW I heard you like authentic world building, right?

Maybe you could bring it up with the devs?

They won’t do that. It makes much more economic sense to order another 100 shitty skins for 2 bucks and continue feeding content to an audience that finds it acceptable.

©Welcome to the new reality. Have fun.

I have already mentioned this idea, about camouflage patterns in relation to the time of year in locations. I think I will be able to implement it and connect it with the camo. I just need to clear things up a bit.

Suprprise, to be sure, but a welcome one!

Thanks!

Do you know why the white star was yellow in north africa? I wish we had yellow star in the game

To the best of my knowledge, the idea was that big white star in the desert stood out too much and was too easy of a target, so some regiments switched over to yellow stars which they thought helped them blend in more with sandy terrain.

Me too, my friend.

It’s a shame Enlisted Devs just throw everything in the same pile instead of actually striving to make this THE game about WW2.

At the moment, if you look at the skins of soldiers and vehicles, it looks like a shitty mod CoD2 from twenty years ago.
