Since AT rifles are more of a meme than a useful AT weapon, why not allow us to use them like snipers?
They’re basically useless against tanks, but extremely effective against planes.
Scopes are unnecessary imho

It is rather a waste of bullets to snipe a human being with an AT rifle. There is no point in doing that when you still have bullets for your primary weapon. A regular rifle would be more accurate and quicker to kill infantry.
AT rifles are very useful for shooting down low tier tanks, APCs, and low flying incoming aircraft. Save your bullets.

I still prefer PTRS over m1 Bazooka for USSR and the at rifle for japan over type 4 and 5, so they are useful at weapons
Gotta say though, love the PTRS 41 as a sniper rifle.

No i get that the 2x magnification by simply aiming does the job
For me sniper at’s could be super fun in some mods like winter war where i could use it to JFK ppl attacking our bases in cars
The best way to give AT rifles increased utility is making them do great damage against enemy constructs. That’s why they’re called anti MATERIAL rifles
They already do. 1-2 shots blows up at guns and aa guns

But what about sandbag walls, hedgehogs, etc because sometimes it feels like I spend entire magazines trying to destroy them. Of coarse it could be that statistics have changed over time or maybe bugs

Actually scoped atr might do better at taking down planes since the velocity of most atr bullets is fast enough so that close range planes are gonna be way easier to take down with a sniper atr
Such as the stuka or some bi planes or even bombers
AT rifles didnt use scopes like sniper because the recoil would knock the sight out of alignement/ break it after the first shot.
This is why they historicly they did not feature more than iron sights.
Adding telecopic sights to such a weapon would be highly unrealistic and smells like some cursed CoD level abomination of “realistic” WW2 weapon.

what about the lower caliber ones?
I think there was a 50 cal sniper
I dont think that the lower caliber would help that much in regard to recoil as you still need to speed up the bullet so much more in order to give it the needed kinetic energy to be able to punch through an armored plate.
This video should sum it up quiet nicely why nations didnt really invest much into ATR scopes/sniper.
