Assault Rifle for Japan

I’m going to be judged for saying this, but, I remember the story of Khal Lake or something like that, the Japanese captured some Fedorov there, we’ve already lost the thread in the madness with the Ofenhor, as we say in my country “de perdidos al río”, for more context (I just did a google translate, I am too rusty)

Article. “Captured Soviet AF and ABC-36 rifles after the battles at Lake Hasan”
Archive “Army Department Main Records” Main Records. Section B. full edition. 1938.

Record No. 3686. Weapons Department. Small Arms Bureau. "Samples of Russian-type small arms received at the end of military operations in the border area near Lake Hasan 張鼓峰事 (Tyo Hokoto) were transferred. Date of receipt of sample: December 8, 1938.
Record No. 7576. December 22, 1938. An order signed by Rikyu Hiroshi, Adjutant for Army Supply (at the Air Force Headquarters) to the Technical Supply Department. “Conduct a general inspection, description, measurements and drawings, and operating diagrams of the mechanisms of the received sample of the automatic rifle. Received on December 8, 1938 from the Department of Registration and Collection of Captured Weapons in a set: an automatic rifle “Fuedorofu” type 1925 (フェドロフ 1925式), a signal pistol (flare gun), an automatic pistol type “Korofuin”, a pistol type “Nagant”. The automatic rifle (as written) “Fuedorofu” has damage.” Further in the Japanese documents there is a brief description and final conclusions after the inspection and testing. But already under the name “Sakarofu” (Japanese name Simonov ABC-36).

Archive “Army Department Main Records” Main Records. Complete edition of 14 books. 1940.
Kwantung Army. General Department of Leadership. Section 2 of the Higher Leadership. Rikyu Mitsuru Hisoka.

Record No. 1592. A total of 2 (two) devices (rifles, mechanisms) were tested, 4 shots were fired each. Data from the automatic rifle received from the post “Sumoriyaka” (Smuglyanka), which was used by Soviet border guards during the illegal border conflict at Lake Hasan 張鼓峰事 (Tyo Hokoto). The “Sakarōfu” rifles are automatic and equipped with a detachable magazine, real and complete experiments were carried out to study the operation of the mechanisms.
The report was sent on September 30, 1940, in response to a request from the General Administration of the Kwantung Army, Department 2 of the High Command of the Army, Isomura Take Akira (Deputy), a copy of the report to the Anami Security Administration. It is necessary to send the report with a sample of the tested rifle “Sakarofu Corps No. 2” (rifle ABC-36 under the number No. 2) that passed the full and real test cycle for Kyu Aritaruni for exhibiting (exhibition?) ".

Further in the Japanese text.
These rifles are listed in the reports as “Sakarofu” (ABC-36), in reality, samples of rifles “Fuedorofu” (Fedorov m1925) for 6.5 mm cartridges were received.
The rifles arrived from the border police units on August 21, part of the troops of Ushijima, whose headquarters was located in Tianjin in Senda.
The appearance of the rifle “Sakarofu” Simonov m1936 in the Soviet army is noted and cited in “Khasan incident military trophies”, Soviet army “weapons, photos from the manual”

It’s AVS-36… Mate, you gotta transliterate, in Russian what you’re writing would be “АБЦ-36”

I don’t speak rusky!, I used google translate!

Google translate is actually defective:

Tell me about it, I still remember the shitshow over here when the government used google translate to translate something into Irish and it came out in gibberish.

I generally don’t want capture content unless it’s special and unique, but the Federov may be accepted because it is chambered in Japanese ammo in the first place so any captured would’ve been able to be used perfectly fine. So it gets a pass in my book

However I will once again say that the Federov is not an assault rifle, ITS AN AUTOMATIC RIFLE. How long must the devs finally fix it!

Correct, it feels like a subtle jab at the Japanese for making an underpowered rifle cartridge to just go “haha, it’s intermediate”

Here are some captured weapons from the photo album - C01003423800 on JACAR.

And a rather interesting document under number A03032127000 about SVD 30.

It’s funny, the Japanese call the SVD 30 the Fedorov rifle, so there may be confusion here. And I will add that it would be better for Japan to issue Type 2A.

i think the 6.5x30 type 2 SMG would be the best option for a tech tree BR5 assault weapon

captured weapons should stay as premiums or events or BP guns

My opinion is that Japan doesn’t need any Fyodorov Automat, it has its own, Japan’s own, candidate for the Assault Rifle - 6.5x30 type 2 A SMG

It makes perfect sense for Japan to adopt a slightly smaller round considering that most rifle cartridges were overkills in the late 19th and early 20th century anyway since they are effective up to 1 or 2 km but most combat was only taking place around 300-400m at best for common infantry.
Also the smaller cartridge came with less recoil and lighter weight which is ideal for a nation made up of people that are on average shorter and smaller than Europeans.
Its also worth noting that Japan has to ferry all of its ammo across the sea or ocean first so ligther and smaller ammo is more cargo efficent.

Still 6.5 Ariska is a full power rifle cartridge, no question about. When people claim its “intermediate” they compare it with the 8mm Mauser or Russian 3-line which were monstrous even at their own time.
While full-power 303. British or 6.5 Carcano aren’t much bigger than Arisaka.
