For some time now, assault rifles have not been the go to choice for most players. They would rather play with select fire rifles, such as T20,AVT,FG,and Hei. The reason is simple : Dispersion
The assault rifles suffer from an abnormally high dispersion compared to the rifles mentioned above, making them unable to compete with them especially at medium / long ranges. The assault rifles should feel more powerful given the fact that they are already limited at 4 in the specialized squad.
Also, dispersion as a mechanic feels very frustrating, taking control away from the player and adding in randomness.
In order to provide more competitive weapon options, the dispersion needs to be reduced for the assault rifles. For some more than others, each should be taken as an individual case. See for example MkB 42 H
I think people would rather see a small increase in recoil and less dispersion if we can’t convince you to just reduce the dispersion
This doesn’t matter for full auto shooting, Assault Rifles are accurate enough to shredd people even at 150m distance, select fire rifles have too much recoil to do full auto at that distance.
Also I think you get it wrong, people actually prefer assault rifles over select fire weapons because they are easier to use and are more forgiving considering they have bigger mags.
The real reason why you see more select fire rifles is because not every squad type is assaulter.
Also Japan has no Assault rifle - while US just recently got a very good pseudo AR but people haven’t tried the Hyde yet and since the T20 is excellent on its own you don’t really see alot of people switching over yet.
I don’t see why it’s necessary to compromise recoil for less dispersion.
Not when automatic rifles already have low recoil values comparable to SMGs and ARS on top of already low dispersion.
LMGs are in an even worse spot because they deal less damage than automatic rifles and are worse in every respect except with regards to magazine size.
Because of that dispersion, If we were to organize a competitive game 10 vs 10 between 2 equal sides, the people using assaulters won’t be able to do anything to stop the SF 9 man squads. Did you ever try to fight a t20 with the stg 44 ? I did, and if the player skill is equal, you will not win a single fight against t20
Not really, even single soldiers aka small targets are rather easy to spray down with pretty much all auto rifles.
Does it waste ammo ? Sure alot, but due to magic hammer and in this case the long range the ammo consumption is hardly a issue.
In nutshell, I think theres even more room to increase auto rifles recoil.
I will still use SF even if AR buffed.
First of all, it has the advantage that most classes can use it,
Above all, the damage is a huge advantage.
The damage is strong, but the recoil is not strong, which also contributes to the very easy mid-range fighting.
Because of this, even if most classes can use AR
I will still choose SF.
The Sights are subjective, 10 more bullets mean nothing when 10 go sideways , and the t20 downs with 1 bullet at 60 meters, while the STG never downs you in 1 hit. By the time your second bullet reaches the target the t20 already killed you
its easier to hit 3 rounds in full auto at 100 meters with my STG, than to hit one round at 100 meters with T20.
yes T20 is accurate, but in full auto you dont need to aim, STG is more than fine at 100 meters distance.
I simply disagree here, the only reason for me to use a select fire rifle is because of one hit kills - which simply change your play style, your overall effectiveness isnt greatly influenced by switching any BR5 meta gun really.
Time to kill is a huge factor. The truth is STG 44 is just too slow to wipe enemy squads. Therefore overall effectiveness changes dramatically based on the BR 5 weapon you choose. If assault rifles could compete against the SF rifles, more people would use them. As it stands, you are trolling for picking assault squads vs rifleman squads in hard games.
