AP mines gimped, what is fun anyway?

I think this was implemented the wrong way, I’ve run over loads in the last couple of days, not been killed once. they used to be fun, not just to use, but to get blown up by, they’re just funny (well they used to be).

Seeing as these are now about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike, how about letting us sell all our AP mines for what we paid for them. (apart from all the ones that disappeared into Narnia, when I removed my large grenade pouches, which I posted about and heard absolutley nothing back.)

Some suggestions:-

Rewind the damage to what it was (you know, actually effective)
limiting the number carried say 3 per squad or.
limit to enginners and AT only.
Increase deployent time.

This AP mine change has changed the dynamic and not for the better (your opinion may be different). Fun is subjective, what is fun for one, isn’t fun for another a quick read of the forums illustrates this quite well. I can adjust to the meta, but I’d like all my silver back that I’ve invested into mines please, and I’d also like the money back for the mines that disappeared, but I imagine it’ll be a cold day in hell before I see that.

I’d rather make them powerful again, but make them like bouncing betties; where there’s a trigger sound and they fly in the air then explode.

If you go prone quick enough you might survive. I feel like this makes it more fair, and also adds an interesting mechanic that alters the dynamics of combat a bit.

I agree, like a loud click that gives you time to react.

AP mines don’t give 100% free kills anymore, oh no!

anyway

their role has further solidified into needing proper placement to be effective or as rally point punishment which is completely fine as is

theoretically what could also be done is increasing the damage area drastically, but nerfing the damage even further, so that a single mine never kills a soldier , but damages greatly and reliably hits even multiple targets.

Also just for you to know, you can place AP mines together with AT mines - which can annihilate an entire squad.

I always say make the planting time as long as it takes to build rallies as a single engineer without perks and link it.

i like that one the most.

not only it just makes sense but also it would fix literally all the issues AP mines have right now.

And it seems not so hard to code.

It is only a free kill when the enemies are too blind. L2P issue.
Funny how I manage to spot and destroy them in time… maybe I am a cheater?
Sure I step in some too, but thats life I guess.

YOU DON’T SAY!
I placed TWO ap-mines left and right in a door as a back cover. The enemy rushed in, both detonated, nothing happened except a white hit marker, he continued, saw me, brrrrrrrt’ed me. End.

you can still chase the red circles for fun exploding experience.

I totally agree as well. AP mines nerf was taken too far. I use AP mines extensively and even I have thought something should be done. However, the steps that were taken make them basically useless. The nerf needs to be more thought out and many of you have brought forth very good ideas (lengthen the process for setting a mine, give some sort of warning system to detect them, allow the engineer class to be able to detect them for a certain amount of time and for a certain amount of area space, allow for less use of them like only 3 soldiers per squad, let them only stay active for one objective point, etc.)

Funny because I place them around corners and behind places people take cover IE places you wouldn’t just sprint through and they still instant killed lmao

You know, proper placement

AP nerf was yet another buff to the Vitality and flanking gameplay. Now you can’t protect the point or rallies anymore.
I guess next time they will also murder AT mines since “they are not fair”.
I would rather limit those AP mines to a couple of classes so we wouldn’t be able to set 9 of them around your rallies/objectives/apc.

The so-called “balance” is about sacrificing the experience of some players to cater to the novices. Mines can be made as visible as those of the U.S. and Soviet mines, but they shouldn’t be excessively nerfed to the point where they lose their original purpose—defending positions.

I had all my soldiers equipped with AP mines because its the smartest way to get free kills. I don’t find it that annoying when I trip over one of the enemy’s mines, and get one of my troops killed because it lets me know that someone on the enemy team is laying AP mines down and I then change my strategy to proceed with more caution.

But now they are nerfed so I will just have to adapt. I luckily have enough silver to buy a bunch of anti-tank mines so I think I will just buy a bunch of those and give them to some of my soldiers in my squads and create AP/AT mine traps in more strategic places to hit whole squads instead of just putting AP mines in doorways

Its must have for snipers.
