I just unlocked this weapon a couple of days ago and I figured it’s main purpose was to damage/destroy the tracks on a tank because I didn’t expect this thing to actually kill a tank, but I have constantly heard youtubers say it is awful. They are right because this barely causes any damage to the tracks or engine and this needs to be looked into since the devs are adding these into Stalingrad.
First of all AT rifle grenade shouldn’t be a separate weapon.
Unfortunately devs seem to think that if sth uses different ammo, it can be put in the game as a separate weapon.
Haven’t used those yet, but in theory shouldn’t they be as effective as the grb39?
I don’t know what the damage on these things were suppose to be in real life, but they look like they can disable the tank at least since it is a small shaped charge.
It should just be put instead of a bayonet.
We should have an option to choose between a bayonet, HE rifle grenade, AT rifle grenade.
Yes, but actually no, I have the M1 Garand with the M7 'nade launcher and it barely dents a Puma
I never understood why the bayonets were never an option to begin with and there was that weird event just to get a few for your account.
For such a late lvl unlock it’s disappointing… I was certain it behaved like the grb39, which really works great. Or at least the sturmpistole…
There were a number of problems with these in real life, primarily they had a somewhat anemic warhead, generally speaking about all of these, they were also very hard to aim and hit with, and games these are generally modeled fairly simply you can point them and aim them in a way that was basically impossible to do irl.
Their name suggests a Lethality that they really did not have, similar to antitank mines, which in real life actually rarely killed tanks but they would disable them.
I don’t know about the grb39, but last I heard the rifle grenades have a penetration of 50mm.
I’ve only used them a few times against armor to limited success; the first time I shot a puma I lit his engine on fire so that was cool.
They are limited to 50mm of penetration, in Normandy there is sub-50mm plating on a lot of the tanks but the angles or overlapping edges will gimp the penetration a lot and post-pen damage will be low even if it gets through.
Talking about the rifles, I didnt feel any real difference between the M1G and the M1C launcher against infantry.
