Anti tank division question

So I’m wondering if you nice folks could explain to me how to better use the Russian anti tank division on battle for stalingrad, no matter where I put my shots on the sides and back of the German tanks I can seem to do any real damage. It shows me hitting what would be vitals bit I only get white hit markers and fail 95% of the time at destroying the tank even after all 25 shots. Also after playing that campaign for 2 months I have yet to see even one of my allies play this class, is it really just that bad of a class?

AT rifles are based on RNG. Avoid using them against tanks if you can.

Keo said devs will do something with AT rifles. But last time he said something similar, they made AT rifles better against infantry.

Uniroically, the best way to use the PTRS against tanks in Stalingrad is to shoot the engine, then climb up on top of the tank and shoot each crew through the roof, although with TnT and det packs, you might as well not bother using the PTRS against tanks and just use it against infantry.

Ah OK so I shouldn’t use Russian AT guns for what they are designed  for I should just use if on random infantry units makes total sense

Welcome in the enlisted.

Although to be clear, you can use AT rifles and get some results. But imo the ammount of frustration and effort you have to put into it are completelly not worth it unless your goal is to become bald from anger.

Imo sturmpistole is more reliable than AT rifles and you can check the forum to see how this weapons is disliked.

But that’s all personal opinion.

I just kinda find it a shame since the German GrB-39 is quite efective against tanks, but the Russians basically need a suicide bomber to deal with tanks because they’re AT division is so lacking

GrB has a shaped charge grenade so it performs better.
All I can advice you is to wait for a buff/fix of AT rifles because they aren’t worth the pain imo.

I use them In Tunisia with some effect, it takes a few hit’s to kill tanks with them, but it’s totally doable in Tunisia

Track the tank or destroy the engine. PtRS is the best AT rifle because it’s semi auto.

well since it’s a nerf to the AT PTRS 41 rifle, which was a long time ago, it’s not a big deal anymore, I mean it’s good against lightly armored tanks, but against panzer IV if it costs a lot to destroy them, I think the best thing you could do is aiming at the crew, killing the commander or the driver or looking for the safest way, is to destroy the tracks of the tank and throw a demolition package at it.

Abandon AT rifles use m91/30 vpgs. The antitank rifle grenade launcher. It one shots ammo. Tried loading a vid but the forum doesn’t like it.

rip mentioned wrong peep

I’ve always just went for the tracks, but you can kill the crew members with it if you are lucky. Its funny, you can go into practice mode and use PTRS to explode the ammo racks, but I’ve never been so lucky in a real match.

I just use it vs inf sometimes, overkill and not as fast as normal rifles but fun

The PTRS has juuuuust enough penetration under 100m to get through the sides of some of the Axis tanks in Stalingrad, you pretty much have to be at a 90 degree angle to their sides and relatively close to get a successful penetration. With how many flanking routes there are in Stalingrad, this is a lot easier than you’d think so long as you have the patience to flank around.

The thing with Stalingrad is that it’s very urban and infantry are usually able to get close to enemy tanks without too much trouble. I’d definitely would rather have an AT trooper in my squads for when I need them but it’s definitely not a squad or trooper type you’ll find consistent need for. IMO, tanks are important enough to take out that it’s always worth having AT troopers around for the few times you really need them.

At rifles works…

But you must use them rather close. At further than 40-50m, chances are your shots won’t penetrate.

If you’re close and know where ammunition is stored however, you can explode a tank in seconds.

Problem is, at this distance… the tnt bundle also works in seconds, and more reliably…

This is exactly what I do and recommend for others. Get to the flank of the vehicle and immobilise it. Game meta will take its course from there as any immobilised vehicle is just detpack fodder. All you have to do is deny the crew an opportunity to fix it.
The other super useful tool are the molotovs. I use them on all my Soviet and German PTRS type AT, to set fires on and around the vehicle, so that any crew bailing out will instantly catch fire.

Start blasting the sides from a right angle. German tanks have awful ammo store placement, or just aim for where the crew is. I don’t bother trying to kill them from range up front, best you can reliably do is to track them and just make their life miserable. Also, make sure you lie down and bipod, otherwise you won’t hit anything
