It’s not uncommon to have such scenario:
I encounter an enemy, he kills me, I swap soldiers, I try to figure out my surroundings and reengage, I get killed before having a chance to fight back, repeat.
Suggestion:
Enemy player who killed me, should draw extra attention from my AI squad. So my bots shoot at him more (note: shoot =/= hit).
This achieves several things:
It encourages enemy player to hide instead of picking my whole squad one by one (or risk being hit)
It makes it easier for me to reengage the enemy because after the switch I’m already looking in his direction
It makes my squad feel more usefull when I see them shooting the guy who killed me instead of watching clouds
I really like the goal of this idea, though I would prefer that this end was achieved by both/either the ai taking better cover or the ai being more responsive when enemies are right in front of them. The scenario you have mentioned happens to me quite often, especially when I am defending points with a large squad. It can be very frustrating to keep swapping between bots and instantly dieing to an enemy right in front of them that they were oblivious to.
Not saying what I want is feasible, but wishful thinking IG. AI improvements should be among top priorities imo.
i’m sort of against it, because i think it would become too convinient.
however, i do believe in this:
which would be enough.
i’d think.
so that, there’s chances that the AI kills the killah or they buy enough time by hiding so that the player can retaliate and have a second chance instead of… full wipe.
How is convenient? One of the milestones Enlisted AI should absolutely reach is
If the squad is under fire all your alive bot should retaliate if they can engage the enemy who is firing
Currently enlisted bot stay some second free on the spot, and waste some other time to turn and start firing back, and wen they start firing back is not even guaranteed they kill the players or bot who is firing at them
Imo a QOL update on bot awareness during ambush, position defense, firefight and assault is much needed for a better simulation and immersion, I actually hate that bot are better if used as spare lives, i want use them as intended
Or at least when you are killed that the next soldier your spawned into starts out looking in the same direction as the enemy that just killed you. Chances are in real life he would be. This way it takes far less time to reorient yourself.
related to this the death chain of tankers getting killed while trying to exit, only for the tank exiting being back to 0 when you switch to the next tanker sucks and needs to be fixed by keeping the exiting progress active for all tankers.
yes AI squad should simply react to enemy fire more, it’s so annoying to swap to another soldier only to find he’s staring in the opposite direction. So many times I swap to another soldier and ask WTF is he staring at.
This change would make the battlefield more believable. You wouldn’t need to swap and react yourself and the enemy wouldn’t shoot AIs in the back.
In real life when a squad would be under fire they would’ve collectively react to the fire.
You need to do custom buttom binding for quick player swap to avoid getting stuck in death menu screen. I have mine set on jump buttom. I can hot swap soliders with out the need of manually selecting them on the death screen panel.
