Anti-Air weapons and Cannons

Hey guys,

As of lately, I have been grinding in enlisted as like the rest of us all have been. I get very involved with gameplay objectives and being a team player. With that being said, I prefer playing with bolt action, rifles, and playing with the environment and the equipment and tools the engineers are allowed to possess and wield. I have a major issue with the anti-aircraft mechanics of this game. My largest issue that I have with the game is the imbalance of high quality players on a PC platform or greater. When a very well played and highly skilled aircraft player is facing down upon an entire team of novice players, or people who are not good at flying planes to counteract and counterbalance the enemy fighters, the player tends to rely on anti-aircraft weapons, such as the anti-aircraft 20 mm cannons.

These cannons are almost absolutely worthless and useless. I have seen forum posts time, and time again discussing this issue, many people say that the anti-aircraft cannons are acceptable, and the ones currently endgame work fine. The argument against posts like mine are always the same; ā€œget goodā€.
An argument of just telling someone to get good is completely overstated and redundant. There is nothing about trying to get good at a game. If you can’t even get into the air, be able to spawn a tank, or even be able to play as an engineer to even get the ability to build an anti-aircraft cannon. Time and time again I have gone from match to match and have been completely obliterated by the enemy team, having complete superiority over the air and bombing my team to the point where the game becomes, not fun and unplayable. Half of my team in a game I had just played 10 minutes prior to making this post had left the game. I tried my absolute hardest to try and stop the two American calliope tanks, as well as shoot down their assault attack or planes. They had to attack planes and two calliope tanks, that is not easy to go up against. Granted, I understand. It is a point of the game to be challenging, and to have abilities to overcome these obstacles with using the combined strength of muscle and wits. Yet where the game fails and lacks lots of ability is in the role of the anti-aircraft cannon. In the second world war, they were many anti-aircraft cannons, the lakes of which we no longer see today because of the technology that surrounds us in the military complex. Yet in World War II there had been many different cannons from 10 mm all the way up to 8.8 cm and further beyond that.

I wish to see the addition of an 8.8 flak cannon or the re-edition of the German 20 mm Flakveirling 38 mitsd.ah.52. I also would wish to see the addition of a quad mounted 50 Cal for the Americans. These are just a few minor examples of what is possible for a listed. It is aa few minor examples of what is possible for a listed.

On the other hand, the mechanics of the anti-aircraft cannons currently, as it stands, endgame is unacceptable. The gun depression is nonexistent, because of the balancing issue of using it against infantry, which I understand that could be an issue, but that is the reality of war, to be able to use a flat cannon against aircraft that are low, flying, and moving quickly. There should be no overheating bar or overheating circle surrounding the radical Endgame, on weapons that are magazine fed or have a are ammunition belt that is limited by the amount of rounds in said, magazine or belt, there should be no overheating. It is too NERFED to have a gun that is overheating, as well as depleted with ammunition that must be resupplied continuously, to keep fighting against competent enemy aircraft players.

I will leave my point with this, if enlisted wishes to see a rise in quality aircraft, gameplay, as well as quality infantry defense against set aircraft changes need to be implemented as soon as possible. With the coming merge, I can only imagine that this issue that I am discussing will become tenfold And more prevalent as new players see themselves facing off with experienced players who are using lower tier aircraft to be in lower to your games with the new coming players. I personally am someone who likes to play with the K 98 and the MP 40 on Normandy, yet my experience level is that if people who playing high to your games, and I am not tooting my own horn, and saying that I am a fairly decent player with a typical KD of 10 to 1. it would not be outlandish for me to say that if I was to be paired against new players that I would have a severe advantage over them and caused them to be crippled and possibly just quit the game and maybe close the entire game out and never return to it again.

I do wish that everyone who reads everything I have said, puts some feedback in a comment, or share this post overall. I do wish that a dev or a helper would please be so kind enough to expressed my concerns back to the development team because I truly enjoy this game, and I believe that this is an issue that can be easily resolved, and have outstanding changes and performance following an update.

Thank you very much for reading and have a wonderful day. I will talk to you all soon.

The merge will help with the balance issue between high grade equipment and low grade equipment.

That said, there are other suggestions that I’ve heard are being looked at after the merge is implemented, especially when it comes to engineers.

Its on its way, but they can only do so much at one time.

How are those AA canons worthless, sometimes 1 shot is enough and YOU HAVE POINTER INDICATOR FOR IT.
You can one tap plane with bolt action or render it completly useless with quick burst with SMG…
And except for Pacifc those planes can’t even repair themselves.
There are only few planes that are completly busted and overpowered and those are usually the ones with 8+ rockets and bombs.

I agree with everything entirely here but good luck convincing the community which loves using planes.

How do you exactly imagine to use it? Do you realise how big this gun is and how hard it is to aim?
The only real target for it can be bomber formations and theoretically tanks.

Yeah, whatever. Irl facts are meaningless in enlisted. Do not bother us with things like that.
All we want are big guns because they’re cool. Rest is not important.

Well, we already have droppods so I guess you are right.
Yamato when?

SOMETIMES? Try rarely.
Yes you get an indicator, but all too often I’m firing into the indicator and I get hit markers for days, but usually can’t bring it down in a single pass. It usually takes at least 2 passes before it takes critical damage.

On the note of the Bomber raids called in by the radio operators, you definitely can’t bring them down in time to save your team from substantial losses/ all the cover on the field being destroyed.
Which for a single player being able to bring that much firepower in, it shouldn’t take 2-3 AA guns (and therefore players) to counter them.

Yeah that sounds great if it happens ONCE in a while in a game where the stats alignment is perfect for that to happen. Most games, that’s not possible.

One tap a plane with the AA cannon? Send me some links to videos showing me this. I doubt that it is possible to be common and the norm of what happens.

You must be a good plane player or if you don’t fly, you enjoy the annoying nature of planes having the ability to ruin a match.

I expect to use the 8.8 cm cannon against airborne deployment C 47ā€˜s and bombing raids. Because as it currently stands using your standard AA Canon that is buildable by the engineer cannot shoot down to planes for more than two planes in a bombing raid. With the time it takes for the cool down, magazine reload, and the amount of ammunition that can be stored you have to get out of the vehicle resupply before you can commence refiring.

The merge will only divide the tiers, not the skills. A good player can then commandeer a low tier plane and grief, low tier, new players. There will be nothing that can stop them other than the new players learning how to fly, granted, that is, if they are even able to get airtime without being shot down by the opposing teams air Force. Balance may balance, the level and tiers of weapons, vehicles, and items, but it does not have any other, balancing when it comes to player skill.

I agree though. I shall wait and see. :+1:

I’ll try to find some videos or eventually play a game for that purpose.
AA guns are balanced everywhere except Normandy but this is a problem with Normandy planes being overpowered itself.

Usually is a more proper word, i’m not sure how much experience do you have with planes.
But try to look from both perspectives.
Most of planes are flying coffins, i have countles of kill with small arms vs planes.
Right now problem with planes exists mostly due to planes with broken payloads, planes with 8+ rockets or 1000kg + payloads.
And this is how it should be adressed, by nerfing those payloads, not buffing AA which is fine in most cases except fricking Normandy.

Okay, I understand what you are saying now. Yes, as a Normandy player who is Axis 14/15 times, I have the issue with the US air destroying us to the point where it’s futile to resist the urge to just fall back and camp because it won’t matter to help because of the US steamroll. I don’t wish to come across as condescending either btw, I genuinely want to see this because I could be wrong about other campaigns and my concerns may not be warranted in other campaigns. Good response back to G and myself. You have changed my perspective and I will reform my thoughts on the issue to better reflect how I feel. Thank you sir. :+1:

At your service :+1:.
I would also state that overall situations is a bit ā€œunchengableā€ due to asymmetrical balance approach.
Also most Allied mains would bite you to death even at the mention that 10xHVAR + 500lbs, 12xM8, 8xRP-3 may be a bit fcking unfair.

People keep bringing up the FLAK 88s as AA but unless you get proxy shells you are not gonna do anything to planes as you would need to direct hit a fast target with at best just 10 rpm on a clucky gun.
Given how they were usually deployed into entire flak batteries in order to be able to fill the sky with just enough fragmantation with times fuzes. And even then it would most likely be just predesignated sector fire and not directly aimed at the planes itself.

If it would be added it would be cool for AT but suck as AA.

I dont have an issue with the current aa.

And although i want 88’s, not to shoot at planes. (well…maybe the odd plane for LoLz)

No if you want an easy aa weapon, its the 37mm or the 20mm Multi barrels you want.

I suggested heavy AA cannons that would be used for both AA and AA situations. It would give us two different playstyles when using them

people need to realise that if you soley use the lead indicater you will only hit non crit components you need to aim in front of it alil
