Yes. No excuse for U.S. not getting it now on the Chaffee.
Yeah after i purchased Chaffee recently i was kinda disappointed with AP solid shells, they have same pen as Crusaderâs AP but with much much slower reload time. All German and Soviet tanks have great main shells with explosive filler except Americans. Even Japan has APCBC or Heat rounds for a most of their tanks.
you would think. But it will mostl likely take a while
just like you could say there no excuse for Soviets not having a BR 2 semi auto, or Axis having a BR 5 100 round MG.
Enlisted seems to have mainly brought over tanks with their stock standard shell and are slowly fixing it. (Germans and soviets luck out because their default round is generally their best)
All commonwealth tanks have far better solid shot ammo available than what they are currently using
WTâs M24 rounds:
Stuart also had APCBC rounds:
M3 Lee rounds:
Crusader rounds:
As someone who plays Sovies as a secondary, Winchester
I like winchester as much as the next guy, but yeah not quite the same
not that it really matters because Semi autos at BR 2 arent that great anyway. Can do without easily, even preferably. But its better to acknowledge its absence before someone goes âwwwaaaaaah faction doesnt have this, so this faction cant have thisâ
Ammo selection for tanks and planes
INSHALLAH
Lemme just load up pure AP belts into the Spitfire and terrorise BR2 already
The inconsistency is super annoying. Iâve tested the P-63 in training yesterday and it literally seem to have pure no-AP belt in the 37mmâŚ
1941 IL2 cannon mix seems to have been severely nerfed, meanwhile VYa-23 goes through the Panther from the front(ish)
Volvo DF ŕźź 㤠â_â ༽㤠Give DIRETIDE AMMO SELECT
Aircobra 37mm has bad pen (i wish it was HE)âŚstick to 37 NAS or yak9ROFL- K
spincocks the Winchester It ainât gonna URRRAAAAAA itâself comrade.
BR2 semiautos are a bit of a meme. Iâve found that MG gunners are kinda viable in BR2, especially when you are faced with a massive blob of enemies overruning your objective
The AP from that cannon is supposed to go through like 30-ish mm according to hearsay i was told
It simply doesnât seem to have almost any AP. Iâve been testing it from perfectly perpendicular top down runs in the range and it was a total crapshoot even against vehicles like P3 and P4, which it should go through like butter
It does go through, tested it myselfâŚbut it feels bad when you are used to 37 nas or 45 nas. ( i cant look atm but i think its 47mm pen?)
Since air cobra has bomb for tanks id rather HE for infantry strafe and planes. Same way i use in warthunder
It is 37mm according to the resource
Haha i wrote that first but thought 37mm gunâŚmaybe im wrong
Thanks
I keep trying it out in training
Maybe it has abysmally bad angle performance or something
It just does nearly nothing 90% of the time other cannons would probably go through
Hitting 10mm P3/P4 roofs from steep dive and its completely ineffective
The M24âs 75mm main gun was a significant improvement over the 37mm gun on the M5, and while they were not designed for head-to-head battles with the heavier German tanks, a handful of Chaffees scored victories against enemy armor.
A report from the 744th Tank Battalion claimed the 75mm main gun, while better than the M5âs 37mm, was still generally incapable of destroying enemy tanks except at very close ranges, and the amount of ammunition carried by the Chafee was insufficient crews usually expended their full ammunition loads after brief periods of combat.
The M24 Chaffee Light Tank - The Army Historical Foundation
I donât think the Chaffee will see APCBC rounds anytime soon. Yes, it could be equipped with them, but those rounds were hard to come by during the war, and the Army wanted them to be used as more of a recon unit and not a head-to-head fighter.
Even replacing existing Smoke shells (that are useless since you have smoke nades) with APCBC would be a huge improvement. Just 7 rounds would make it a better against APCs and uptiers but wonât completely steamroll all opposition.
I was using M24 Chaffee at BR3 and i struggled vs PZ3E armor
and against Panther i was completely defenceless, all i could do is to destroy his barrel and thatâs about it.
If you were supposed to be fighting with it in historical BR so 1944-45 then you would get at best one kill and die since your shell is so mediocre.
Well, I mean the Chaffee is a light tank that has thin armor at 25mm thickness so, no its not meant to go toe to toe with a PZ3E that has a 3.7 cm KwK 36 anti-tank gun that could pen the chaffee no problem out to 500 meters let alone a Panther tank that has 7.5 cm KwK 42 that could fire a shell with better Penetration then the 88 that was the main gun for the Tiger tank.
Also to be fair the Germans made their tanks for tank combat. So, they had tanks that were miles ahead of the ally tanks for the better part of the war. Its why when the Shermans took on Panzers it took about 3 or 4 Shermans to knock out 1 Panzer and we lost a few in the process. The saving grace for the allies was the supply lines and manufacturing that toward the end of the war the Germans just couldnât keep up with the attrition from both fronts
Ap ammo (and belts) for planes would be nice, as well as giving the Bf 110s their (historic) option to equipp them with internal and Pot 15mm MG 151/15, with full H-Pzgr. Belts against Tanks.
Also training is not a great judge of effectiveness since AP rounds do more damage via sniping crew (that are absent).
Sorta sucks that you have to buy to try against a real target
Well, I was mostly judging by engine damage/fires
Even things I regularly melt with kinda miserable 20mm Hispanos would not reliably burn
I guess other issue is that the plane flies like typical US brick for whatever reason and just doesnât feel like doing vertical loops almost AT ALL
Iâm glad we can finally agree on something!
