Not sure if they existed in ww2 I know the soviets used them widely in Afghanistan.
Imagine a frustrating mine spam instead of bombs. Lmao I always find it funny when an infantry squad spams mines and people keep setting them off.

I think you should get banned just for suggesting this.
Nice sourcing.
Why not? Now you can justify a really cool minesweeper class lol you can experience all the excitement of operating a metal detector under heavy sniper, mortar and artillery fire. extreme immersion bro!
If I was darkflow this would be amazing for April fools.
Mines are so fun more people should use them.
If I remember correctly
There were indeed air-dropped mines during World War II
Used to interfere with reconstruction after bombing
There seems to be records of it being used in urban areas in France or England.
They are interesting and useful
Even if there is a clear countermeasure
There are still people who cannot accept these things emotionally
Italy had thermos bombs
The AR-4 was an anti-personnel air-dropped bomb used by the Regia Aeronautica during World War II. It was widely used during the bombing of Malta and in the North African theater. By the English it was called “Thermos bomb” due to its apparent resemblance to a thermos. The bomb consisted of a cylinder 31 cm long, made of steel (body) and aluminum (top part) and weighing 3.68 kg. It was equipped with a mechanical fuze from the Costruzioni Meccaniche Società Romana company which was designed not to explode on impact but was sensitive to movement/vibration. The bomb detonated at the slightest movement and could be lethal in a radius of about 30 m, with a maximum radius of 90 m.
Destruction of unexploded ordnance was normally accomplished either by attaching them to a rope and then shaking them violently to activate the fuze or by placing a small explosive charge at their side.
A later version of the fuze introduced a 60-80 hour delay from the moment of ignition.
Now I feel the urge to do nothing but cycle planes for a whole match, by kamikazing immediately after dropping a cluster of AP mines.
(I’d unironically try that at least once just for the meme.)
Just add a cluster bombing run with duds acting like mine after the run concluded,
Im sure the players would absoluetly love this feature.
Bonus points if they add crippled status effect.
I think you should shut up, if you don’t give any incentive to the post, stay quiet, thanks
YES !
Germany used the SD-2 “Butterfly Bomb”, a 2kg (4.4lb) anti personal mine droped from the air.
The idea is great - but only when every nation has the option. It could be a very interesting premium/event squad too.
These were apparently very effective, but fell out of use because Germany never intercepted any information relating to their effect on the ground. This was part of a concerted British intelligence effort to achieve precisely this end goal.
But they were used and were highly effective. It seems that:
Would be great if the USSR and Japan had some too. It really would be an interesting feature for a premium/event squad. And no - they are not OP. You can see them when they sink to the ground and the developers should reduce the amount to maybe 8-10 mines that can be dropped on one spot.
japan have one for planes who was in a parachute xD
